Any vets or dog people up?

Dog is 14. Has been in good health but has seemed a bit senile during the last year.

About an hour ago he seemed a bit wobbly when we let him out and then just stood still in garden for about 10 minutes until I led him back in. He nearly collapsed on way in then just stood shaking and breathing fast.
We manoeuvred him onto his bed where he’s stayed. Breathing has calmed down but he’s still shivering.
Should I call emergency vet? Is there anything they could do for him that won’t distress him?
I’m sleeping (well not sleeping) downstairs with him.

Call the emergency vet. He doesn't sound well.

I’d call a vet. Hugs for him and you, hope it’s nothing but if it’s something it’s best he’s seen.

With our emergency vet service you can call them for advice and they happy chat. When our old dog was poorly they were very reassuring and were happy to listen and advise what to do or give without having to take her in to see them.

Hope he is feeling better soon. Can you cover him to warm him up?

Any chance he’s developing diabetes? Sticky wees, dribbling wee on the floor, drinking lots of water?

AutumnCrow · 01/03/2020 23:23

I'm so sorry. I'm hoping someone who can help you see this.

Keep him warm and hydrated.

Bunchofkeys · 01/03/2020 23:31

I’ve phoned and they have recommended giving him pain relief In case it’s something that’s hurting him, keeping him warm and seeing how he is in the morning. He’s looking around a bit now.

Not weeing or drinking any more than usual.
He has seemed a bit more hungry lately but I sort of out that down to him forgetting that he’d already eaten!
He’s just got up and is back to just standing still Confused

How's he doing this morning?

Bunchofkeys · 02/03/2020 17:22

Took him to the vets this morning. They think it’s something to do with his spine-either injury or neurological. Have some medication for him and it’s a case of see how he is over the next few days.
He’s still not moving much but managed a bit better once outside at lunchtime after having the tablets this morning.

Hope he continues to improve.
