What can I watch with DS, 16, on Netflix that we'll both enjoy ? Would be very grateful for a steer. He's hard to reach at the moment and I need something we can do together.

TIA for any suggestions

Schitt’s Creek

DS(13) and I enjoyed The Dark Tourist series, lots of weird and interesting shit to chat about and Google!

Pretty much anything with Louis Theroux.

There's also a one off program on iPlayer we recently watched about a young F1 racer overcoming life-changing injuries after a near fatal crash that we both found interesting.

He's a factual lad rather than fictional as you can tell!

Daybreak?
Ragnarok?

I have been having this dilemma for a younger DC. could you try creating a brand new Netflix profile within the account. on the Netflix website you can then configure this for 15-17yo (so 18 cert stuff won't be displayed) and when the new profile is then accessed it will display an introductory welcome page displaying a bunch of popular shows and inviting you to select 3 things you liked - so pick 3 according to wherever the overlap is between DS's tastes and what you are happy with, and let Netflix algorithms do the rest.

Pimmsypimms · 28/02/2020 17:51

Yep definitely agree with Locke & Key and Stranger Things!
Dh and dd (15) watch Sabrina together too.

gabsdot45 · 28/02/2020 18:28

My 16 year old and his friends love "Friday night dinner".
It's very funny. I love it too.

NewYearNewTwatName · 28/02/2020 18:34

I can recommend Luke Cage DS loved it.

Somanymistakes · 28/02/2020 18:35

Watching with interest and taking notes.
It’s hard work OP. You have my sympathy.

NewYearNewTwatName · 28/02/2020 18:36

stranger things is bloody good but my older DS didn't want to watch something about kidsHmm

weegiemum · 28/02/2020 18:36

Altered Carbon. My 18yo loved series - and the second one is out today

Boopear · 28/02/2020 18:39

Salvation is mine and teenager's current fave on Netflix. It's about a meteor about to hit earth. A bit hokey but very watchable.

Crawley65 · 28/02/2020 18:39

Ds and I enjoyed watching:
Black Mirror series
Brooklyn 99
American Horror Story
Good Place
The Simpsons

LoisLittsLover · 28/02/2020 18:39

Black mirror is great, all of the episodes are separate but all themed around future dystopian situations, often around social medical etc

MunaZaldrizoti · 28/02/2020 18:40

All the Marvel series are awesome:

Jessica Jones
Luke Cage
Iron Fist
The Defenders

Actually, make that most of them. Daredevil is meh.

LizzieMacQueen · 28/02/2020 18:41

Stranger Things. Though Season 1 was the best IMO.

Noodlenosefraggle · 28/02/2020 18:45

Yes another one for Locke and Key and Stranger Things. I love Lucifer with all my being but the first 3 seasons are on Prime so youd be starting halfway through. What genre does he like? If he likes sci fi and you have a Prime subscription, Umberella Academy a

LochJessMonster · 28/02/2020 18:45

Daybreak. Apocalyptic series from a teenagers point of view. Very weird but worth a watch.

Noodlenosefraggle · 28/02/2020 18:46

and The Boys.

Noodlenosefraggle · 28/02/2020 18:46

Daybreak is fab too

TiddlestheCat · 28/02/2020 19:03

Teens behind Bars! They might be a little less grumpy with a thinly veiled threat hanging over them.

Boredoftherain · 28/02/2020 19:08

The Boys (that's on amazon prime, haven't RTFT to see if you have a prime account!) as for netflix: I Am Not Okay With This, Atypical, Cuckoo, Arrested Development, Inside No. 9 is good if he's into that sort of thing.
