Would these boots look silly with a red & black dress?

I love these boots, so I bought them, without really thinking when I'd wear them! They're not exactly suitable for work. I do have a few events coming up though that I'd like to wear them too. I have 2 dresses, both midi in length but neither have any white in them, one is red and back print and the other is a green & black print. Would they still go? Was thinking of nude tights (don't fancy getting my bare legs out just yet) and adding a white (wide) belt - would that help??

Would these boots look silly with a red & black dress?

I can’t imagine them with red and black.

I feel like lighter colours would be better.

Jeans would be perfect, obviously not for an event though.

AnneJeanne · 27/02/2020 13:14

I don’t think they would coordinate well with either of the dresses you’ve mentioned. Perhaps with jeans and a multi coloured jumper? They’re very cute!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 27/02/2020 13:18

That's what I thought Sad

I can wear black with the dresses, just not sure when I'll get to wear these boots! I might return them...

Black trousers and a white or coloured top. Black dress. Dress of almost any colour. Denim dress or jeans.

Bluntness100 · 27/02/2020 13:23

Those boots would work with blue jeans, black jeans, black trousers, beige etc, as well as things like pale blue, neutral colour dresses and skirts,

They won’t work with a red and black dress, and the dress won’t work with a white belt round it likely. Unless you like the clashing look.

Ninkanink · 27/02/2020 13:25

Yes, black jeans, coated jeans. White tee, black tee. Lots of options.

Ninkanink · 27/02/2020 13:26

Ohhhhh I need some beige trousers. Just out of interest, @LifeInAHamsterWheel where did you get the shoes?

springydaff · 27/02/2020 13:37

I'm a great believer in the Just Wear It philosophy. You afford them, so wear them - with whatever you like.

You don't want to be matchy matchy, either. Wear them with your dresses (dark/black tights iiwy?) and rock the look. Don't try to tie the white in anywhere else, let the boots make a statement.

springydaff · 27/02/2020 13:37

*adore not afford

sclough · 27/02/2020 13:39

I love them, if the dresses are Midi length and quite flowy I think they Will look fab.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 27/02/2020 14:31

hhmm now I'm wavering! I might keep them and wear with the various suggestions above.

Maybe I'll try them on with my questionable dresses and post a pic closer to the time!

They are from Office by the way, think they're called "Millicent"

apart from the fact that they make my feet hurt just looking (pointed toes and staggering heels) they are white so go with anything. Probably last five minutes though!

Ninkanink · 27/02/2020 14:58

They will actually be quite comfortable to wear - heel is not too high, and the wider heel base will allow more support. Pointed toes don’t matter as long as you’re wearing the right size.

So want to buy these but I’ve already spent money I shouldn’t have today!

Ninkanink · 28/02/2020 21:12

Oops i bought them!! Grin

What a good price! And I love that it’s a cream, not an actual white.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 01/03/2020 16:23

Wear them well @Ninkanink!

Ninkanink · 01/03/2020 16:34

@LifeInAHamsterWheel are you keeping yours?

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 02/03/2020 20:58

No. They are a terrible fit on me, I'm between sizes and these just look awful around my heel/ankle 😩 Gutted as they are so gorgeous. My friend wants to buy them off me - I'm not sure how I'll cope with her wearing them Hmm Grin

Awww no! If it helps I’m kind of hoping they don’t fit me well as I really shouldn’t keep them...

dudsville · 02/03/2020 21:10

I think it could possibly work and look really nice. Pics?
