Thinning hair - worried about taking this medication.

Apologies if this is in the wrong topic. I’ve had thinning hair for a long time now and I’m only still young. Most of the time it doesn’t bother me as I just try not to look but over the years various people have commented on it and how it’s worsening. My GP said some tests and said everything came back normal and that I might be borderline polycystic ovaries but that unless I’m trying for a baby not to worry.

So a few months ago I bit the bullet and paid privately and saw a hormone doctor who took some tests. She says I have what looks like female pattern hair loss and also some Polycystic ovaries. She’s recommended me taking spironolactone and Utrogestan every day for 3 months.

I’ve just got the tablets and I feel nervous taking them. Am I being silly? I don’t normally take any medication, never been on the pill etc. I guess I just feel worried readi the side effects and thinking is this worth it.

Am I being over the top here? I would really like to get my hair back but this does make me nervous I guess.
