Ancestry and MyHeritage dna tests on Amazon?

I really like the idea of trying Ancestry or MyHeritage dna test. I have an Amazon account, and noticed they seem to offer both on there. Has anyone ever used their Amazon account to order one? Are they exactly the same as the ones you order on the Ancestry or MyHeritage sites? I know they are a bit dearer on Amazon, but it would be easier to order on there, so long as they are genuine.

I'd like to try and agree, a few pounds more is sometimes worth it for Amazon customer service.

They are the same price for ancestry when I've just looked. If you buy from ancestry website it's £7 9 plus £10 p&p. The difference being amazon lump the p&p into the cosy of the test. Works out the same though.

If you can hold fire they sometimes reduce for mothers day. I think mine was £59 from memory.

As previous poster said ancestry often reduce the price to £59, think I've even seen as low as £49. Tends to be just before christmas, easter, remembrance sunday etc. They also have free access to their geneology website at these times too.I
I've just done it and had some interesting results, mainly in keeping with family tree discoveries. It's well worth it !

Mmm, so, amazon potentially have access to every conversation which happens in your house if you have an echo, and now you can pay them to have your DNA as well....?

If you want to buy a DNA test then I assume that one provider is as good as another, but A, they’ve been proven to be incredibly inaccurate, and B, people should think carefully before randomly sending off their DNA to anyone

Would you provide your DNA for e.g. a government database? Or agree for your children’s DNA to be taken at birth? Because if not then why would you give it to a company and pay them for the privilege, not knowing exactly what they might do with it, if not now then in time?

Because for various reasons I really want, and need to know, to know details about family history. Can't think it would be a problem, I won't be sending it to just anyone, it's a reputable well known company.

And Amazon won't have my details, it will be Ancestry or MyHeritage, both using Amazon.

Amazon just sell the tests. The results go directly to ancestry. They have no access to the results.

I took an ancestry test last year Clawdy to try and answer a couple of questions and it more than set my mind at rest. I waited until they had the £59 offer on though.

Once you have your ancestry results you can download your raw data and input it into some other sites as well.

DP bought mine on amazon and all ok OP, but I echo the waiting for a £59 deal through ancestry themselves. They do it fairly regularly!
