Can the power of MN help me find this picture?

DS is turning 2 and is obsessed with Peter Rabbit on Cbeebies. It's a bit of a mum dream of mine to send in a birthday card to be shown on telly but DS's favourite character is the cat. Mr. McGregor's cat... Not the weird vegan one in the shop. When he sees the cat he screams and gets so excited! It's wonderful to see!

I'd love to have a big A3 picture of the cat prowling up to PR. Problem is, I can find hundreds of the cbeebie's Peter Rabbits but non whatsoever of the cat. I'm absolutely a rubbish artist so couldn't attempt to draw it and I don't think they'll show the card if it's got some random other cat on the card! The rules seem quite strict!

So I'm putting it out there to the powers of Mumsnet. I've heard tales of teddies being reunited and wedding dresses being made so I'm crossing all my fingers that someone can find me a large, clear picture of Mr. McGregor's cat - no background just the weird, graphicy cat so it can be cut and stuck on the card.

I'd be eternally grateful and we'd hopefully all get to see the masterpiece revealed on DS's Birthday!

If you google mr McGregor cat there are sites that post pictures of him. Could you print one out and take it to a photo shop who can enlarge it and turn it into a poster.

Popl · 26/02/2020 20:38

Do you mean this?

I was hoping to find a picture like this one. But of the cat. Plain background then I can write Happy Birthday and all that jazz on there.

Ooo that's a good picture #Popl, I could enlarge it like @Happy suggests and cut it out. Could stuck it on a big card and then add a sting to its paw so it's holding a balloon!!

Print one of the other pictures, cut round the cat & stick it on plain white board?

porple · 26/02/2020 20:45

great idea!

GiantKitten · 26/02/2020 20:45

Cross post Smile

Balloon on a string is a great idea (with a 2 on the balloon)

Ah brilliant, thank you so much MN, your power is quick and true! Grin Wine

Make the balloon so you can fold it back with a picture of your Ds behind it

Hileni · 28/02/2020 08:17

I've hit a wall.

Went Into snappysnaps who have quoted £17 or £27 (I can't remember) to enlarge the picture and print it off!! I asked if they could suggest anywhere else because it's just for this Cbeebies card and they said no where really does that and it's expensive because it's on quality photo paper. I could try online but I'm coming up empty!

Local library. You could print it off there, much cheaper.

WinnerWinnerChickenDinner0 · 28/02/2020 08:22

If you edit the margins of the photo on your phone and print them out a4 sized you could then piece them together and stick on a pathetic card

AnuvvaMuvva · 28/02/2020 08:24

Do you know anyone with an A4 colour printer? You only need an A4 cat, and could print out the balloon, etc, and glue it onto the card.

WinnerWinnerChickenDinner0 · 28/02/2020 08:24

Oh lord that was supposed to say “A PIECE OF CARD!”
I promise you I think it’s a lovely idea not at all pathetic Hmm

Also love that it’s the random cat that your ds likes, kids are bonkers 😂

pasmayalabeille · 28/02/2020 08:31

I've done a very rough version because it's not my forte - but could you get the cat without the background - then you could enlarge to just print on 1 A4 sheet in color or send it off to an online printer ? It could be cheaper.

“Pathetic card” Grin

SoupDragon · 28/02/2020 08:42

Can't you just print an A4 cat yourself? A4 cat on an A3 card will be fine by the time you've added a balloon, picture, name etc etc.

Hileni · 07/03/2020 02:25

Hi, sorry for not responding sooner, we've all been ill so haven't had a chance to relax on my phone a lot!

@pasmayalabeille that's brilliant, thank you for doing that for me! Also, @Kittybakes89 how did you change the background to white?

DH us going to print an A4 cat off at work and I'm going to get an A3 card from hobbycraft - stick it all together and add a load of glitter!

You're going to need the original pic, the person who finds it should put a link on the thread. The version uploaded to mumsnet is tiny so when you enlarge it it will go all pixelated and blurry. For a cut out version if someone has edited it themselves you could pm them your email address and they could send it to you.

Kittybakes89 · 07/03/2020 08:09

I used an app called PicsArt that let's you cut it out :)
