I like Liverpool, compact city center, lots of museums and the Albert Dock.

SurpriseSparDay · 25/02/2020 20:03

In normal times:

Liverpool
Manchester
Leeds

in that order. But quite honestly, if your birthday is in the next couple of weeks, I’d give all these cities a miss. The weather will be too awful for much outdoor activity - which is half of their attraction; and everyone will be increasingly virus avoidant ...

Either book a cottage somewhere cosy and isolated, or stay home till things improve!

Liverpool.

FamilyOfAliens · 25/02/2020 21:48

Liverpool - just on the train on my way back and missing it already!

Zampa · 25/02/2020 21:51

Albert Dock has some amazing restaurants like Maray, is close to some excellent museums and galleries (and Mattel Play for the kids!).

Also has a Premier Inn and a Holiday Inn if you need somewhere to stay. Shopping is a 5 minute walk away.

Manchester isn't great for kids IMO (I live here - we stick to the suburbs and Cheshire). I don't know Leeds well enough to comment.

Depends what your 3yo is into... in Manc there's the Legoland at the Trafford Centre if they like that. Or the aquarium next door, but you can probably go to those in the other cities too!

Manchester mos def

TheGinGenie · 25/02/2020 21:57

I've never been to Leeds or Manchester but Liverpool is one of my favourite cities. Wonderful place.

LoseLooseLucy · 26/02/2020 00:10

I'm from Manchester and would choose Liverpool every time.

HJWT · 26/02/2020 11:24

Great thanks everyone will try Liverpool this time! We normally do manchester or Trafford centre 😊

Any nice food places to recommend good for kids to? X

Been to Liverpool and Manchester but not Leeds

I would choose Liverpool (I did like Manchester but Liverpool was an altogether different type of vibe) .

Definitely Liverpool! We live in Warrington, slap bang between Liverpool and Manchester and I can’t remember the last time we went to Manchester. Liverpool is so much nicer.

If you have kids with you, food places I’d recommend are Yard and Coop, Casa Italia or Rudy’s Pizza.

ActualHornist · 26/02/2020 12:36

I second Yard and Coop - they are doing free kids meals with any adult meals too. It’s chicken so likely to be something that everyone will eat, and it’s good value for money too.
