Was I imagining this massive jam doughnut in Glasgow?

I lived in Glasgow late 80s, early 90s. There was an Italian restaurant at the bottom of Sauchiehall Street (ie near corner of Buchanan Street) that had an an amazing window display.

It featured bread and pastries and I'm pretty sure there was a gigantic doughnut? It looked real, I don't think it was a pretend doughnut.

Actually thinking about it, it was a ring doughnut not a jam one.

Am I making this up? Anyone remember this?

I remember this, the display was a glass revolving cabinet and they made their own ice cream.
Called Dino’s

It was Dinos! And you're right! It was a revolving display!

Was the huge doughnut real? And if so did they chuck it out when it got stale, or chop it up for tiramisu I wonder...

They did do the most humongous donuts, I don’t know if the window one was real but I do remember ring donuts the size of my face.

Mmm never mind fancy tantrum doughnuts, dinos was the best! Good coffee too. First place I ever had 'jimmy style' half pizza half pasta shared with someone.

Feeling all nostalgic....

Aw I've googled now I know the name. It was a restaurant but also functioned as a cafe for breakfasts, coffee and pastries etc. It closed a few years ago and left many glaswegians broken hearted! And famed for the massive doughnuts. And late night coffees.

And the suave sav, not to mention ultratheque and change at jamaicas, or zhivagos or tropics....

As much as I enjoy a bit of nostalgia I really feel like this is an amazing time for food in Glasgow so can't feel too sad. I would like one of those doughnuts again though...

I was in The Venue most weekends, Glasgow has always been amazing for food.

I didn’t know Dino’s had closed, or Clatty Patty’s.

Ah well
