Day 6 of awful diarrhoea, losing weight, doctors?

Bringringbring12 · 24/02/2020 13:05

Just that. I am on day 6 of horrific diarrhoea.

I am very underweight and trying hard to put on but this is setting me back badly. I’m eating but it’s coming out of me within hours.

It has definitely improved from three days ago (when I was chained to the toilet) but it’s still bad.

Doctors? Or ride it out?

Tia

Does it feel like having an iron claw in your stomach for anyone else?

Bringringbring12 · 25/02/2020 07:17

@Veterinari @dontgobaconmyheart

Thank you - I will call today. Almost certain parasite or something like that

Yes Frownette

The stomach pains are worse today even though the diarrhoea has slowed down some what now for me although I haven’t eaten anything today yet.

It's so frustrating waiting for it to stop.

I went against someone's advice upthread earlier and had some orange juice as it looked so cool and refreshing, pooed straight orange juice couple of minutes later. I'm back on crackers.

LennyPugGoat · 26/02/2020 00:44

Agh you made me need to go even reading that;;;;

noblegiraffe · 26/02/2020 00:48

I think mine lasted less than a week (it was 20 years ago!) but I was still wobbly for a while after that. I think I was really lucky and only had a mild case. Hope you got help from the doc!

5zeds · 26/02/2020 00:52

Pharmacist. They will advise what to do and tell you to go to Dr if needed.

nonicknameseemsavailable · 26/02/2020 01:03

well speaking as someone who has diarrhoea nearly all the time (no noone seems to know why but after years of it I am used to it now) I would say he only fruit you should have is bananas and boiled peeled chopped up apples mushed up. toast (dry). plain water to drink or rehydration sachets. dry crackers. white rice.

Frownette · 26/02/2020 02:08

The white rice worked really well! Ate it a few hours ago and it's stayed.

Orangina was ok as well. Organic nettle tea with slice of lemon soothed stomach.

Really happy, I wondered earlier how you were all getting on!

Frownette · 26/02/2020 02:09

Sorry Lenny Blush Grin

Bringringbring12 · 26/02/2020 08:30

Thank you @noblegiraffe and @nonicknameseemsavailable

Had tel consultation with doc. I have stool sample pot and blood test booked for Thursday.

I have detected a slight improvement! Had a large low fibre dinner (rice cakes, cream cheese, white toast and honey, some crisps and a yoghurt and I have had only one bowel movement since. Major step forward

they always seem to go on about how fibre is good - it often isn't in my experience.

You can get a tea by Yogi Tea called Stomach Ease tea. lots of health food stores sell it - I find it brilliant so once you start to feel a bit better try that and you will want to get some good probiotics inside you too. biokult or something like that.

redandwhite1 · 29/02/2020 10:14

How are you OP?

I've had this a week so far, gave in a stool sample yesterday...

Bringringbring12 · 29/02/2020 13:12

Awaiting results from stool sample
But I am MUCH improved
10 days of diarrhoea. So much for me trying to gain weight. It was such a struggle to even maintain. But I did! Really proud of myself. Much better. Not 100%

Hoping that others improve ASAP

Glad to hear it

I've lost 2.5kg in just over a week, never been so down about losing so quickly!
