Insomnia, why won't my brain shut up

As a dancer I listen to music a the time so when it comes to bed my mind won't shut up singing these songs.. I envy the people who dont have an internal monologue.

Also my husband has started working away for weeks at a time and I find it difficult to fall asleep, same happens if my kids are at a sleepover..
I'm really struggling this week to drift off. I've gotten out of bed and come down stairs and sat on the sofa in the dark

I listen to the sound of waves breaking on a beach. It helps me relax.

I hope you are fast asleep now.

Fell asleep around 3am, had a nightmare and woke up then I fell asleep.
Awful night. I'll try waves tonight.

Hope you can get some rest today. Being exhausted is terrible.

Goes against much of the advice but I find a documentary on TV or similar on radio sends me off. I find listening to something stops me stressing and I relax enough.

The news would be good if they didn't put those noisy bits in between each block as that can wake me back up Angry
