Who's the weird one? Me or the boyfriend?

I can't drink a hot drink whilst eating food. For example I can't have a cup of tea with my dinner or breakfast. I'll have one afterwards but I can't bear the two together. The boyfriend says I'm weird but I think he's the strange one! Who's right?

Both of you. It's just personal preference.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 20/02/2020 13:02

I wouldn't have a cup of tea with my dinner but usually always have coffee with breakfast and lunch, so to me, you are the weird one, sorry 😂

confusedandemployed · 20/02/2020 13:04

Your boyfriend is weird. Hot drinks with food is an abomination.

lottiegarbanzo · 20/02/2020 13:05

Would you have a biscuit with your coffee or tea?

I'm more inclined to your view, I prefer hot drinks after eating, or separately but that's less true with breakfast.

Cloudyyy · 20/02/2020 13:06

Hot drinks with food are unacceptable.

lottiegarbanzo · 20/02/2020 13:06

I do think tea and coffee do not go with savoury food.

FakeFraudSquad · 20/02/2020 13:09

I think it’s you but looks like I’m in the minority.

Come on - fish, chips, mushy peas and bread and butter and a nice pot of tea?

A lovely warm pain au chocolat or almond croissant and a rich smooth cup of coffee?

Tea and toast in the morning is the best feeling.

timeforawine · 20/02/2020 13:13

I'm with you OP

lottiegarbanzo · 20/02/2020 13:16

Afternoon tea though? It's mostly sweet.

NumbersStation · 20/02/2020 13:20

Juice, pop or water with food.

Hot drinks are best on their own. And not for a dunk either Envy spewy not envy

BarbaraofSeville · 20/02/2020 13:20

Tea and coffee only go with certain foods. I'm currently thinking dry and non spicy, eg any sort of biscuit/cake, toast, fish and chips, breakfast or bacon/sausage sandwiches, yes. Curry, chilli, stew, no.

But then I've contradicted my own argument a little as I would also say no to tea or coffee with a roast dinner or steak and chips and probably things like paella, or plain grilled fish and vegetables, while yes to fried fish and chips.

Deadringer · 20/02/2020 13:22

I am the same as you op.

Hattie78 · 20/02/2020 13:37

That's so strange - I was having this conversation with my DP yesterday! I can't stand hot drinks with meals, not even breakfast, so I'm with you.

Andtwomakesix · 20/02/2020 13:40

Yeah I don't get hot drinks with food neither except some tea with breakfast although I do seem to leave it mostly until I'm finished eating.
