How long do you spend choosing wall paint, furniture, flooring etc when decorating?

Wouldn’t want to be impulsive and just pick the first thing I like but I also don’t want to spend forever searching the thousands of shops and online websites for the best looking, best quality, best value for money ‘thing’

What’s your middle ground? How many hours/days/weeks or number of shops/websites do you check before selecting the best out of that pool?

Literally as little time as possible. I hate dithering and fannying about!

I’m an impulse buyer (I’ve owned three houses and each of them was the first I viewed, partly because I liked them but partly because I couldn’t be bothered with traipsing around looking at others) and generally go into stores with a good idea what I want and buy whatever seems close to it. I remember long and torturous Saturdays as a kid with my parents in shops looking at tiles and carpets and paint swatches and wooden tables which all looked virtually identical. I am not doing it as an adult!

I spend a looooong time choosing. Partly because of budget and saving for the usually expensive thing I like (champagne tastes, beer money!) and partly because I usually see something I like better in the meantime.

So I spend a lot of time on-line looking at different suppliers, and end up with something rather different than the vision I started out with!

Depends on how much time you've got.

I love chosing paint etc and will happily spend hours looking for the perfect thing. Sometimes though I see the perfect thing straight away.
