Tall DS and lack of available clothing!

DS, who's nearly 17 is 6ft 3 tall and I am desperate to find him some joggers that don't come half way up his legs! We've googled everything, and the only ones I can find, from Nike, are out of stock and have been for ages. He will only consider a designer brand so it's pretty hopeless really. He won't look at M&S, Gap, ASOS, etc Hmm. He's got one old pair of Adidas joggers that are literally falling apart and are worn EVERY day. He won't wear jeans - aagghhh!

Can anyone help us? Thank you so much in advance.

www.jacamo.co.uk They do joggers & chinos in a 33in leg

Missfritter · 17/02/2020 13:40

Can he not go shopping himself Confused

MrsCharlesBrandon · 17/02/2020 13:44

Jacamo have lots of addidas joggers, but they're all 31" inside leg. Too short?

It's unbelievably difficult to get tall designer wear, DD1 has a 34" inside leg so i feel your pain!

He will need to wear clothes that dont have a label on unfortunately and the sooner he gets his head around this the better. He's 17 ...give him the money and let him go shopping himself.

My son is 6' 7" and really....he has to wear what he can get.
Gap do a tall range as do asos and next.
There is a website called 2tall.com where everything is proportioned for tall men....he likes the hoodies.
You could measure his inside leg and google for appropriate joggers?

HildaSnibbs · 17/02/2020 13:46

There's a website called 2tall which stocks extra tall clothing for men, a mix of their own brand and others, they might have something ?

Annasgirl · 17/02/2020 13:48

Not really any help to you but DH is very tall so we have the same issue.

Try US websites or Danish websites as there are so many tall boys there. Also, try brands that are associated with basketball - maybe a US basketball brand???

DSis had the same problem for her tall son and bought ASOS tall.

O'Neills (very popular sport brand in Ireland as they make all of our GAA sport kit) might do long track bottoms - you will get them on all the JC Sport and Sportdirect sites as they sell them here.

RightSwipe · 17/02/2020 13:49

My teen is 6’3 and everything comes from Jacamo. He isn’t in to designer brands so it’s fine for him, but I do feel for the more fashion conscious tall man!

G-Star probably isn’t fashionable anymore, but they do longer length men’s jeans and trousers if that’s any help.

GEEpEe · 17/02/2020 13:49

Order online from the US. Ebay and Amazon should help.

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/02/2020 13:52

Ds1 is also 6'3. He wears shorts or jeans. Problem solved. In reality, he is old enough to understand and do his own research OP. Better off with plain unbranded bottoms that he can team with brands on top half if desired and afforded.

Neither of my DSs are into sport and don't like joggy bottoms for casual wear so no direct experience. DH is 6 2 and wears ronhill bottoms in a large size to get the length and just pulls them in tight but he's not what you'd call a fashion victim Grin

ItWillBeBetterinAugust · 17/02/2020 13:57

That's really quite strange - my DH is 6 foot 4 and has no problem at all buying clothes - loads and loads of brands have a "long" option.

He's being an idiot about labels - it would be a total non issue using ASOS or even Sports Direct. However Adidas also do extra long jogging trousers (basketball pants).

He's 17, it's his problem really unless he has a relevant additional support need.

Lunafortheloveogod · 17/02/2020 14:05

He needs to choose his path.. unbranded or become shorts guy.

We all know a shorts guy, they even wear them in the winter.. but they can get Nike/under armour or whatever brand they like.

lulufufu · 17/02/2020 14:19

I understand why you're helping him. It's really hard. My 15 year old is 6'3 and v slim, which makes it harder. Recently we've had some success with Nike, Under Armour, and I've suggested he wear high top trainers, and the bottoms sort of sit a little higher than the top of the shoe.

Annasgirl · 17/02/2020 14:22

This is great info - I might pass on to DSis for her son - although she is also on MN.

My DS is 13 and very tall - not yet 6 3 but I'll keep these brands in reserve if it happens. Also DS refuses to wear jeans as he finds them uncomfortable (as do I as a middle aged mum!!).

Bloomburger · 17/02/2020 14:24

Lyle & Scott do linger length joggers.
They're just about cool enough for my 15 year old.

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/02/2020 14:32

Yep, DS1 is a shorts guy, winter and summer. He wears jeans for uni and if going out somewhere where I insist on jeans, otherwise he wears shorts everywhere and in all weather's and always when at home.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 17/02/2020 15:59

There's stuff out there, he just needs to not be so fussy!

Kenworthington · 17/02/2020 16:15

My ds is 17 and a designer fiend too, he’s also 6’4, like his elder brother. Fortunately what he also likes is his socks on show!

DanielleandBobby · 17/02/2020 16:24

Well, thank you to all the posters who've offered genuinely helpful advice:

@CoffeeBeansGalore
@RightSwipe
@Annasgirl
@lulufufu
and especially
@bigearringsbigsmile for her great links.

I've learned a lot about brands other than ASOS, Nike etc. and agree that DS has to become a lot less fussy if he's ever to buy anything new again!

To the posters who suggest he go shopping by himself - he does, thanks, and always comes back empty handed as his inside leg of 34 inches tends to prevent purchases.

And as for @ItWillBeBetterinAugust, why not just pop over to AIBU where your snarky, rude comments might be worthier of my biscuit? Biscuit

DanielleandBobby · 17/02/2020 16:25

@Kenworthington - my DS shows not only his entire sock, but a subtle hint of leg too! Grin

Bigearringsbigsmile · 17/02/2020 16:31

Def measure his inside leg so you know what you're working with. Some ' long' fits are only a 34 but some go up to 37...there's a big difference in brands

mummymeister · 17/02/2020 16:37

My DH is well over 2m tall. he shops at 2Tall where they do slimmer fitting clothes as well because lots of places make things longer and wider and they end up swamping him. Got him a brilliant coat there for Christmas the first one he feels has ever really fitted him. www.2tall.com/

Standrewsschool · 17/02/2020 16:53

I feel your pain, as also have 6’4” seventeen year old.

I use Next online. Also, look in the clearance section of next (online). Stock changes each day, so it’s worth checking on a frequent basis.

River island (online) has a tall range which is quite good.

My 6”4’ son has some Adidas trousers which come up longer. It was a matter of trial and error to see what fitted.

@missfritter - from experience, many shops don’t stock longer lengths.
