I had a blood test 12 days ago,
No sign of any issue at the time.
A few days later a big purple bruise showed up.

It’s slightly smaller but still there and still purple where as I expected old bruise to have gone yellow by now.

Photo attached.

It doesn’t hurt, it’s not causing any issues.

Is the timescale of bruising a concern ?

I had that once, it went away eventually but took a while

Is that your forearm in the pic where the bruise is? It can occur sometimes if you squeeze the site too hard afterwards, or bend your arm after the blood taking- it should be kept straight with some pressure on the spot, but not excessive. Either way, the colour of the bruise is no indication of the age of it! You aren't in pain, and it was reabsorb in time.

Yes it’s forearm which surprised me too as adjacent to injection sight rather than directly over it

I don’t remember what I did at the time but it’s highly likely I was carrying something heavy

I always have bruises like this after I have bloods taken. I bruise easily and they take ages to go down. Did you lift something heavy afterwards? Either that or the nurse was a bit heavy handed with the needle and putting pressure on afterwards.

I remember going to an appointment to discuss my blood results and the DR asked if I was being abused by my DH. I said no, your nurse did that last week Blush

I had that once too. Some are better at taking blood than others, it will get better.

That's how I bruise after a blood test, unless anyone other than our practice nurse does it.
