Universal Credit - When is the best date to apply?

I read some advice on here about assessment periods and how it can have consequences if you're paid early for Christmas or bank holidays.

I need to apply for UC but I'm not sure what would be the best date to do so . I need to apply ASAP.

DH is paid his wages on 27th of every month but is paid up to a week early for Christmas .

When should we apply for UC to get the best assessment date ?

I would say just apply now so you be one eligible for payment straight away - there will be a 5week wait till payment though. Myself and my partner receive UC and are paid on 27th of each month and got paid early for Christmas so 20 December and didn’t have any issue because of it.

DWP previously did view early payment as double earnings in one month but it has since been declared unlawful as long as payslips show the period those earnings are for.

Do you mind me asking when your assessment period is ?
