I’m not pregnant am I?

know I’m not but tell me I’m not please!

I am on the pill. I am very good at taking it on time, every day.

Which I take back to back packs. Until I have spotting, then I have a four day break, and the start a new pack. I always have a decent 7 day withdrawal bleed. Except this time (3 weeks ago) I had spotting, came off my pill the next day and started to bleed 2 days later. Unusually it was pretty much over and done in 4 days. I had to see the nurse about something else and she said it was normal. A week later, I had (tmi!) brown spotting again. But haven’t stopped my pill and as it only lasted 12 hours.
I’ve never had spotting before.

I took two pregnancy tests (14 and 24 days after last time I had sex, just in case.) and both were negative.
The second one was a week ago.

My anxiety means this is nagging.

What age are you?

When I was around 37 I started having breakthrough bleeding on the combined pill which I'd been on since my teens. GP said it was time to change so I moved to mini pill and have had no bleed since (8 years later!)

Whyismycatanasshat · 14/02/2020 15:22

Thanks for replying, I’m midway through 35; I had to come off the mini pill 3 years ago, due to excessive bleeding.
The current combined pill has been great. I came off After 6 or so months to conceive my DD.

Had my DD over a year ago and been back on this pill ever since. Will no random spotting ever. Hence my concerns.

Anyone?

You shouldn't be spotting during the pill cycle.

Spotting doesn't indicate that you need a 7 day break. You only bleed when you come off the pill because the shock of the drop in hormones causes you to bleed.
There's no build up when you take packets back to back.

The spotting needs to be investigated.

PixieDustt · 15/02/2020 10:34

Agree it should be investigated and of course you can get pregnant on the pill anyway. Although slim but even when it's taken perfectly nothing is 100%.

Whyismycatanasshat · 15/02/2020 10:53

But two negative pregnancy tests is a good indicator it’s an issue with the pill rather than being pregnant doesn’t it?

Make that 3 negatives. I am now 30 days since I last had sex.

Definitely not pregnant.

I think.

I don’t think you are pregnant. However you do need to go see your GP as this doesn’t sound normal and you may need to change your pill. I am the same age as you and I’ve had lots of weird and wonderful things happen in the past year, apparently it’s fairly common for things to have a shift around in your mid to late 30s. You also mention you had DD just over a year ago? That in itself could be a reason to cause changes even a year later. Go see the GP

Whyismycatanasshat · 15/02/2020 19:49

Thanks all.

@TheNoiseHurts My pill directions say “take consecutively until breakthrough bleed occurs then 4 day pill break and recommence.” Which implies spotting no?

TheNoiseHurts · 16/02/2020 11:40

Ah, I was told the complete opposite. My breakthrough bleeding was investigated.

However, that was a good few years ago (10+) because I didn't get on with the pill so perhaps it's different now.

Whyismycatanasshat · 16/02/2020 13:11

I’ve had nearly 20 years of problem free pill taking; admittedly only been on this one a few years... maybe I should just be grateful for the good years!

What one is it out of interest?

It's also different that it's a 4 day break and not the usual 7 day break.

Whyismycatanasshat · 16/02/2020 20:15

it is Rigevidon. A quick google just now says 4 day break is now acceptable. It used to be 7 when I first started.
