Anyone with a cheap gym membership?

Ok, so I’ll start by saying I’m slim and I don’t want to lose any weight. But I desperately want to tone up!

When I was still at school (so 15-17ish) I took a girls’ PE fitness course. At the time, I built muscle and got toned very easily - and I had a great bum, which I really miss! Blush I’m only in my 20s now, so I have faith in my toning abilities.

I tried some at-home workouts last year. I stuck to it for about a month, which is a record for me! I saw minuscule results, so eventually gave up. I think the thing is, I need proper weights to see a difference. I remember using a machine in the fitness room at school, where you push a weight with your feet, that works your glutes (no idea what it’s called). I need that!

Now, my problem is, I can’t afford a gym membership. If there were gyms where you could just pay as you go, I could maybe manage that every now and again. But they’re usually £20/month and upwards. Sad

Are there any cheap or makeshift gyms out there in leisure centres or anything like that? Or even cheap(ish) equipment I could get for at home that would help me see better results than without weights?

Sorry this post is a bit jumbled and long-winded.

Where I live (north east) there are a couple of hiit class companies. Hiit classes are amazing and work really fast and really well. Around £30-£40 a month and can go as often as you like. I saw actual muscle definition within 6weeks and I'm not slim either

My local council gym is £5 pay a you go.

Pure gym is very cheap so is xercise4less if you have either of those nearby.

The Gym group is really cheap if you have one of those near, mine is 13.99 a month

Thank you!

Liking the idea of the £5 pay as you go council gym @Invisimamma. I’ll have to see if there’s any in my area!

£14 a month is doable as well x

Pure gym is £19.99/month for Sat & Sun membership if that’s any good

BertieDrapper · 13/02/2020 17:00

@user764329056 where are you based.... our pure gym is 19.99 a month for a full membership!
Just for Saturday and Sunday that's mad.

You could look into a smaller fitness company just to get you started.

A local business near me did a beginners course for 4 weeks and then a weekly bootcamp and other circuit classes for £8 a class. It was a great way for me to get my confidence up at doing exercises I've never been able to do!

Like you I've always been slim and naturally toned - but at 34 and after a baby that's no longer the reality 😫
I couldn't do a push up before now I can.

Oh I also did the C25k last summer which also helped build up my fitness levels.
