I struggle to get a word in

I've got a party coming up this Friday evening and I'm dreading it. I'm not shy. I am talkative and outgoing in small groups and would probably describe myself as an ambivert. I enjoy social situations unless it is a big group. There is 30+ people going to this party. I hate being amongst big groups and feel really awkward. I want to chat and contribite to conversations but I find it nigh on impossible to get a word in edgeways, not least because the extroverts in the room never stop for breath. I'll have something I want to say, but people will have moved onto the next topic of conversation before I get the chance. I know a lot of the people going to this party and they are the type of people who like to dominate and control the conversation, which makes it hard for people like me. Anyone else get like this is big groups?

Yes all the time...embrace it.I have often had great chats with likeminded people at parties in little corners or in the kitchen! A lot of people listen to talk rather than listen to understand.I fine big groups exhausting but I often find other similar people edging away from the group to cosier places.Hopefully you can find some similar people and try to relax and enjoy it 🙂
