Ideal 14th birthday present for a tenner.

I am going to my friend's 14th birthday on the 29th, and would like to buy her something really appropriate and special.

For her 13th, I got her unsuitable make-up with sparkly eyeliner.

Someone suggested I take her down the park with a bag of supermarket booze Grin - great sentiment, but I don't think cheap booze is that exciting when you are older.

What do people want for 14th birthdays at the moment? Any good suggestions?

I'd go for a gift token that covers high street retailers, or a TKmaax or cinema trip one, boring but safe and will be used!

Melroses · 12/02/2020 20:15

That is probably practical but I want to get her something to open on the day, so she can relive her youth Wink

So I assume this means she’s 56? Something that would have been popular in 1978?? DVD of a film from that year?!

I cannot explain how long it took me to work this out! Got to be something related to a YouTuber, that's all the rage these days

Melroses · 12/02/2020 20:21

That is a good idea. Or some music - sainsbury's have some cds from the era

Bottle of Thunderbirds and a.dirty.dancing dvd.

Melroses · 12/02/2020 20:23

Yes my DC are into you tubers - (although older than 14 which is why I am so out of touch - things change fast...…….)

Then walk her.home through the park......few spins.on the roundabout and she'll be scarred for.the.next 56.years.

Melroses · 12/02/2020 20:24

False eyelashes, bottles of VK and some fake tan should come in under budget if you shop around Grin

Melroses · 12/02/2020 20:25

She has a park behind her house - we could all go and sit on the swings for half an hour ...

Melroses · 12/02/2020 20:26

I don't think she has ever had false eyelashes before - love that - and some of those stick on nails?

29th February birthday?

doritosdip · 12/02/2020 20:37

I saw Charlie Red and Blue on sale in Boots recently.

BabyMoonPie · 12/02/2020 20:37

Friend was born 29/2 ie the extra day of a leap year so has technically only had 13 birthdays despite being in her 50s

Melroses · 12/02/2020 20:41

Yes, she only gets a birthday every 4 years. We like to make the most of them.

I saw Charlie Red and Blue on sale in Boots recently Ooh yes very sophisticated. I had a friend at school who was obsessed with Charlie perfume.

Lava lamp?

Melroses · 12/02/2020 20:53

She likes cats - maybe a cat cushion for her bedroom?

Sorry, I was very slow on the uptake there! How about some vintage magazines, Jackie or whatever was popular when she was that age? Could frame it?
