Does anyone recognise this (80s) doll?

I've been helping my parents tidy their loft and have rediscovered some old toys I'd forgotten existed, including my Rainbow Brite doll 😊 Apparently they are worth a few £ now 🤷‍♀️ However, she came out of the bag with a friend but I can't work out who the other one is. It doesn't match any of the pictures of Rainbow Brite characters I've googled. I thought she must be from the same range, but maybe not - does anyone recognise her?

Did anyone have Sylvanian families? I loved them

Witchend · 10/02/2020 16:05

I had Sylvanians, just a few. Loved the little bits and pieces you got with them.

What I had which I haven't managed to find is I collected these little 2" dolls. They came either naked in a pink or blue bath, (with a "towel") or clothed. They had painted eyes, and some had painted brown hair. I've half a feeling they might have been German.
I had 52, all named, and I was aiming for 60 when the shop I got them from stopped selling them.

Does anyone remember a doll who’s hair grew? And then you wound the arm to get the hair to go back in?

My mum wanted me to be a "girly" girl so I had a massive doll collection. All I wanted was an Optimus Prime and I never got him.

ShuffleHop · 10/02/2020 16:32

My sister had a hair growing doll. I've found out, here:

Dd is playing with 'vintage' Sylvanians as we speak 😄 I asked her and she doesn't want any of my old dollies so charity shop and lucky few on the loft it is.

I had a doll whose hair grew. Her hair also changed colours in the sun.
My parents loft is great. It's got star wars toys from the 70s up there.

ShuffleHop · 10/02/2020 16:41

I haven't come across my Keepers yet, think they must have gone already.

I still haven't got over mum giving away our Commodore Amiga and a box full of games. I discovered this maybe fifteen years ago and I'm still miffed! I loved that machine, and apart from that they are worth a fortune now!

@Spoonsmum - Lady Lovely Locks?

Yes to the Get-along Gang! I had a Montgomery Moose!

Boy, I wish I still had all my old toys!

Spoonsmum · 10/02/2020 18:01

Yesssss it was dolly surprise!! I had the ginger one :) she had green jelly shoes that I wanted in real life

And thankyou for mentioning keypers. They were the best :)

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 10/02/2020 18:05

My sister had Montgomery good news moose.
I dont think had a get along gang toy, which is surprising, as we usually had a toy each from a "theme"

TroysMammy · 10/02/2020 18:11

My sister was very much into celebrity as a child. She had to have everything that was on tv, Nookie Bear, Gordon the Gopher and ALF, she also had a Twink which I coveted. 37 years later she thinks it's lost or thrown out. In fact it's in my attic Grin

TheNoiseHurts · 10/02/2020 18:15

I loved my Rainbow Brite!

I have genuine feelings of childish love and joy when I see those pictures. Flash back feelings!

TheNoiseHurts · 10/02/2020 18:15

I even remember the smell of her hair.

FleabagTeabag · 10/02/2020 18:54

@Witchend was it these, Lil Babies? I had loads of them.

Witchend · 10/02/2020 19:00

No, they were in clear plastic and had movable arms and legs.
This is the closest I can find:

Iwantacookie they could be sitting on a small fortune

LHMBF · 10/02/2020 19:38

I remember Keepers, and my brother had ALF and one of those awful boglin things.

I have an 8 week old baby and I want to see if my old toys like Sylvanian families are still in the loft at my childhood home as i want her to have them when she's older

Aswellaslocal · 10/02/2020 20:07

@Witchend did they have a solid body?

Witchend · 10/02/2020 20:09

Yes, solid bodies, and jointed-I think with elastic, joints, but I might be wrong there.

Puddlelane123 · 10/02/2020 20:18

@Witchend I had those - loved them - and have seen them on ebay under German ARI dolls / vintage german dollshouse dolls.

Homemadearmy · 10/02/2020 20:52

@Witchend I had those too as a 70s child. I'm sure the ones I had came in a plastic carrycot aswell as a bath

Iwantacookie · 10/02/2020 21:15

@thewitch I know I keep saying we should sell them. Iirc theres a 4 and 2 legged Atat, various planes, jabba the huts ship and various figures.
