Can I defrost this quiche for tonight’s dinner?

The weather here is awful and I would rather put off going out. I am on my own with 2 DD’s and all I have in the house that we could have for dinner is a quiche that I bought a while back and popped in the freezer.

If I leave it on the worktop, do you think it will be defrosted by 5pm? The packaging says “defrost for at least 12 hours in the fridge”.

Thanks.

Yes it’ll be fine. They just don’t want it stood out of the fridge getting too warm for too long. Check it after two hours, then after three.

you can cook it from frozen OP!

The problem is, the kids wont eat it cooked. They only like it cold fresh from the fridge 😅

Kids are so fussy - one of mine likes hot cooked quiche, the other likes it cooked and then chilled (won't eat it hot!) Confused

If the kids prefer it cold could you cook it from frozen now, let is cook then pop it in the fridge to get cold ready for 5?

Kingyy · 09/02/2020 11:54

@Portulaca I feel your pain.

Unfortunately, one of them won’t eat it if it’s been cooked then chilled. Tastes horrible apparently! They drive me mad at times 😂

Leave it out for a couple of hours. Once it’s thoroughly thawed pop it back into the fridge til you want to serve it.
