City of London?

They're all much more diverse than you'd think, because of the prestige abroad about English education.

They have a much more diverse range of cultures than state schools, because there'll be 26 nationalities in one class, not, say 90 per cent Bengali and 10 per cent other.

The difference is that a Bengali child at a private school will have richer parents and prob be in a smaller minority compared to his poor cousin at state school who is surrounded by friends and neighbours.

Thanks, Doryhunky. During a child's formative years it is important that they do not feel alienated, yet I want to give her the opportunities that Indies provide.

Thanks SideeyeSue2. I would be interested to hear about the experiences of children from an African/Caribbean background.

Our old school had about a third from abroad (diplomats, parents on secondment etc). Not alot of ethnic diversity but lots of different languages and cultures. It had a reputation for it. Down side was the kids did tend to move alot so friendship groups got shaken up.
