Blatantly seeking ideas!

I'm really struggling to come up with something so tell me what you have got/would get your partners for a special birthday.

DH doesn't really have any hobbies, but he does have a number of interests....aviation, 90s music, likes swimming for fitness, likes books about WW2....

But really I'm open to all or any ideas so HELP!!!!

When DH was turning 40 I did a lead up to it with 40 small presents over the 40 days to his birthday. Then we did a small party with close friends and a night away. You could incorporate all his interests.

An experience rather than physical gifts. I watched a travel programme last night where Jane McDonald paid £300 to be flown in a wartime light aircraft. Would he enjoy something like that?

If you're down south, the Fleet Air Arm Museum is meant to be very good, if you fancied a day out, lunch/dinner somewhere nice or a weekend away.

We tend to do experiences now, either as a family or just us. DH is going away for his birthday doing a hobby that I have no interest in Grin.

Weekend away in a European city? Maybe somewhere he's always wanted to go?

DH got a beer making kit - 11 years later and the spare bedroom is a beer making ingredients/equipment storage space.

Maybe flying lessons or a trip in a special plane? Private tour of an aviation museum?

I got DH a decent pen, which he was thrilled with.

Or you could get a nice watch. Swiss Army knife?

Mont Blanc pen
Mont Blanc bag
Aspinal of London bag
A watch, Rolex?
A holiday

I can’t remember what I bought my DH for his 40th ( probably a camera) but for mine we had a long weekend in Barcelona. We got the sleeper train via Paris and then flew back because we had tickets for a band in Hyde Park. For his 50th we went to California. I definitely think experiences are a good solution so a flight in some kind of aircraft or helicopter lesson would be great. I did buy a relative cuff links made from metal from WW2 spitfires which came with the biographies of the different pilots but I appreciate he may not be a “ cuff linky “ type of person.

For gifts for my 40th I got a Mont Blanc pen and a vintage watch amongst other things.

Brilliant ideas. Thank you.
Totally agree with an experience of some kind. That's been on the list for a while, so some good pointers here.

Really love the cuff links idea. That is RIGHT up his street Grin
