Old Cadbury’s Vs New Cadbury’s

While tidying out a cupboard today I came across a bar of old Cadbury’s- bb date 2014 Confused

So in the interests of mn my daughters and I did a taste test. The chocolate looked in perfect condition, no bloom or anything. It had been stored at at stable room temperature.

It tasted odd, maybe I’m used to the new stuff now, it had a slight vomit undertone to it, it felt grainy on the mouth feel and didn’t melt in the mouth despite being at room temperature. Lots of things that have been levelled at the new version. It didn’t however feel ‘greasy’ as the new stuff does.

The DC didn’t discriminate and ate it, but they like chocolate coin chocolate too Wink

Compared to the new version of Cadbury’s, it wasn’t any better or worse, but my tastes have changed and I prefer dark now - preferably Lindt excellence Grin

Final photo of the front. I thought I took a picture of the whole unwrapped bar, but it was just of the table cloth (Aldi’s finest waterproof Wink) this was the only piece left by the time I realised Grin

I thought you meant old old. I’m 43 and still remember the divine tast of Dairy Milk and Milkybar in the early 80s. I wouldn’t go near one now.

That’s not old Cadbury’s.

It’s at least 5 years old as that’s when I left my last job and it was in my old work bag. The ingredients don’t list palm oil on there, so it’s definitely different to what they sell now.

Kraft bought Cadbury in 2010. I bet it says vegetable fats or something.

Cadbury chocolate was ruined when the Yanks took over, more sugar and palm oil. Leaves a horrible after taste too. The Milk Tray is horrible. The chocolate has no taste and is greasy rather than creamy. Even the creme egg isn't the same as it used to be.

The taste now is simply sugar, not chocolate.
