Can we have a support thread for people who hate their jobs!

I started my job around 6m ago and knew I made a mistake in the first week. People kept telling me it takes time for you settle / give it more time etc. But nope. I am looking for jobs but there just isn't anything out there suitable. Aaaarhh I wish I hadn't left my other job. It was temp but they kept on extending my contract and I'm sure I would have still been there now. Never mind.

Anyone else in the same boat? Thought we could have a support thread and sort of cheer each other up. When you don't enjoy your job it has such a big impact on your life.

Am I the only one who hates my job?! Grin

Nope. I hate mine. Done it 11 years and loved it initially, but a combination in more recent years of poor management, unwarranted internal and external changes have changed it completely. Been trying unsuccessfully for a few years to get out.

I hate mine more because I have no control over anything as my department works for another organisation in the same building . I also have some of the most patronising condescending colleagues who could ever exist . The actual work is fine just these two things ruin it for me .

Hate mine too. I have a job interview next week for another place. I’m terrified because I’m scared of change but I spent every day this week almost crying on the way into work. I can’t do it anymore.

Yep, absolutely hate my job. I’m stuck for a while due to my circumstances. I could tell you a few things but I would have to kill you first! Suffice to say, it’s crap, counting down until my escape...

Mintjulia · 07/02/2020 19:31

I think you'll need more than one thread [grin ]

My job has only started to perk up after being here for 14 months (job hunting the entire time, my city is dead for my career - it was a mistake to move here). Keep your CV polished, apply where you can and keep hoping for the best. Thankfully my colleagues are a good bunch despite the workplace being crap for me. Helps a lot.

INeedANew · 07/02/2020 22:25

RedundancySucks well done for getting an interview! Fingers crossed it goes well for you. I hate interviews! I've applied for a job recently and I'm hoping I'll be invited for an interview.

jjjnnnnnrrssss your colleagues being s nice bunch is what makes it for me in a job and that's my problem in my job. I am micromanaged by my manager, the team is really cliquey and I just hate being there. When I first started they wouldn't even help me properly and figured a lot of stuff out in my own.
