1 year old won't keep a hat or mittens on or a coat zipped up!

Some mornings we are out in the freezing cold but he will not keep a hat or his mittens on. He also hates having his coat zipped up so is constantly unzipping it !

Any suggestions???

you could try putting the coat on back to front... I gave up with hats (ds has thick hair anyway) and bought him gloves with little woolen beasties on the fingers so he liked wearing them.

Base layers, tights or leggings under his clothes and waterproof dungarees over the top. I also get jumpers that are slightly too long on the arms so they cover his hands when they slip down. Also perseverance. DS is nearly 2 and will wear any hat that isn’t his for a short while 😂

Lots of infant all in one snow suits have flaps which you fold over the end instead of gloves. They wont be able to undo zips with them on either.

Massive socks over his hands, but under his coat.

Does he get cold? My son was the same, and now he's old enough to choose his own clothes wears shorts and a t-shirt year round, occasionally a jumper, and very rarely a coat (although I usually end up carrying it with us!) so clearly was too hot as a baby/toddler. It's hard when they're tiny & can't tell you how they feel

HotChocolatemarshmallows · 06/02/2020 16:19

He's only 1 but in 2-3 clothing so no mittens attached to snowsuits! Way to big for those!

I also have a hat hater and the only ones that stay on are woolly ones with strings to tie under the neck. Mittens are still a problem and I use a snowsuit with foldover flaps. Though half the time she still manages to work her fingers out, so I just avoid taking her out when it's very cold, or pop in and out of shops so she can warm up.

That’s the start of it!😂 I suggest wine. For you.
