Do you have long/narrow downstairs rooms in your house?

We’re currently house hunting. We saw one at the weekend that DH really likes, but I’m a bit less bothered about. I’m willing to compromise i suppose because it has a large south facing garden and you can just glimpse a view of countryside from the master bedroom, as well as it being right in budget and in good condition so we wouldn’t have to do anything but clean it! But I am struggling to see past, what I think of, as long and narrow rooms.

So could you please tell me about your houses with long, narrow rooms? And how you arrange your furniture?

For reference the lounge is 18ftx9.5ft and kitchen diner is 18ft by 8.5ft. Master bedroom is 13ft by 9.5ft but there’s no walls long enough for a good sized wardrobe for two of us because the en-suite door is right in the middle of a wall with a dog leg at one end.

That is narrow, you'll always have to think of space before you buy any furniture. It will also seem less light unless it has tons of windows

Keep looking...

have sent a PM - let me know if you want to see how my tiny house ( longer front to back ) works - I may be able to link photographs.
