PLEASE help me identify this cello piece. It's gorgeous, but I don't know the name

Hi,

So unfortunately I have little info on this, but hopefully someone will know 🙏

The first time I heard it was on an advert for drama about a year ago. Not a specific drama, but drama generally. I think the character was from a real drama, but talking to the camera. He was white, 50's or 60's and had a gun. He was in a forest I think and he was talking about why we love drama and how it makes us feel....I think.

I originally thought it was a piece from The Reader soundtrack (stunning) but I don't think it is now, although it has that kind of feel. Really soul stirring.

I haven't heard it since, but then was watching an episode of the documentary Losing It- the first episode last week and it came on there and tipped me over he edge. It was when a young girl with anorexia was having to decide with her mum and therapists whether she should be admitted. It was towards the end of the episode I think.

That's all the info I have.

Please somebody find out what it is! It's so beautiful.

Can you link to an online streaming of the Losing It episode? Might know it if I hear it.

This is going to be the shortest thread ever! Grin

I've found it! I googled man in forest- ITV drama (tried lots!) and it linked me to YouTube, which also named the score in the details Smile

It's Max Richer- On the Nature of Daylight.

Definitely worth a listen if you're a cello lover.

Oh Max Richter is wonderful! His recomposed Vivaldi Four Seasons is incredible

mumofoneortwo · 05/02/2020 11:54

Oops- *Richter

Thanks @IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece

I am listening to it now - thank you, @mumofoneortwo - it is gorgeous!!

Over the past year, I have been trying to listen to a new piece of music each week - more, if I can manage it - (my New Year's resolution was to have more things in my life to enrich it, rather than giving things up) and this will be today's piece.

Breathmiller · 05/02/2020 13:59

I've just listened to this - its beautiful. Found his "Reflections" too. Equally beautiful.

Breathmiller · 05/02/2020 14:01

Sorry

Oh, it’s the music from Arrival too. Absolutely stunning piece and so beautifully played.
So glad you identified it.

mumofoneortwo · 05/02/2020 18:08

@DoSomethingBob, yes! That's actually the first time I heard it, not the advert. That must have been why I was drawn to it so much.

Oh this is just beautiful! Thanks so much for this thread. I love the sound of the cello.

Sunnysidegold · 05/02/2020 18:29

Op this has taken me down some sort of rabbit hole and has reminded me of "lux aeterna". Clive mansell, from the requiem for a dream soundtrack.

mumofoneortwo · 05/02/2020 20:23

@Sunnysidegold, Grin You're welcome!
