Yes I''ve been, what sort of tips are you looking for ?

wineoclockthanks · 04/02/2020 17:15

I've heard it's really busy - should we arrive on the dot of our slot?
Is it very warm?
Anything really that you wish you'd known beforehand!

At the saatchi? Get there in good time - you need to queue but they get you in fast enough.

People stand in front of you taking photos on their phones all the time - it’s frustrating but just work around it!

It’s really good even though they don’t have the mask there (the one on the flippin’ posters!).

Lordfrontpaw · 04/02/2020 17:21

No it’s not hot in there - I had my coat on. I assume they can’t let the temperature go up or down too much. It’s dark too (not completely dark but dimmed).

Nordicwannabe · 04/02/2020 23:15

I found it pretty warm in there. We left coats at the cloakroom and we were comfortable.

I'd get there as early as possible in your slot. We found it got busier later in the visit (we had an early slot though, so perhaps it evens out later in the day.)

The ornate inner coffin that seems to be on the poster isn't in the exhibition. There is however a smaller model of it in the exhibition, which must be what the poster shows Grin. I was really surprised when the exhibition finished, because I was waiting to see it!

It's an absolutely stunning exhibition. Enjoy!

I’ve been in his tomb.

Just saying.

bsc · 04/02/2020 23:26

Me too @JayAlfredPrufrock ... but someone had cleared it out! Wink

We went this afternoon. Arrived on the dot and walked straight in.
Stunning exhibits, lots of people taking photos.

Redcherries · 05/02/2020 05:45

When we went they were letting so many people in no one could see much and arguments were breaking out. We felt quite let down. And disappointed, sorry.

Some tips, going to the sides of the displays allowed you to see more with less elbows and phones. The big exhibit at the end has stunning detail at the back of it, and no one else looked there. The replica mask is on your left as you leave through the gift shop oddly. No one really noticed it.

I hope it’s quieter for you!

Lordfrontpaw · 05/02/2020 07:38

I found going around the back of the artefacts also gives you an interesting view (lots of carvings and ornamentation there!)

wineoclockthanks · 05/02/2020 08:12

Thank you everyone Flowers

I'll report back later.

Well, it was amazing.

It was quite busy but it didn't spoil it for us. We had a 10.30-11 slot and it was certainly much quieter at the start so if you can, do try and get an early time.

The exhibits are wonderful, it's amazing the things they made.

We were there for over 2 hours and although it wasn't cheap, I would highly recommend it.

I went in December. It was awesome. I am going again in March, and am going to leave my camera behind, and just look, and absorb it all.

bsc · 05/02/2020 19:15

Thanks for reporting back!

StarbucksSmarterSister · 05/02/2020 19:16

I went today. It's amazing, but very crowded.
