Weird smell in DDs room!

Bingewatcingagain · 03/02/2020 15:31

Just been to check on 11 month old DD who is napping... her room stinks!

Any ideas?

It’s such a weird smell but I can’t quite describe it. It’s almost “vinegary”.

Has she got a tummy bug? Or eaten anything new? My daughters nappies can be a bit vinegar smelling if she's got diarrhoea. Hope it's not that, but that's probably what it would be in our house!

frazzledasarock · 03/02/2020 15:33

Does she need a happy change?

DesLynamsMoustache · 03/02/2020 15:34

Teething wee or poo?

suggest you open the window,, and air the room.

TheJoxter · 03/02/2020 15:39

Teething poo!

Justmuddlingalong · 03/02/2020 15:45

God. You've just taken me back 20 odd years. Mine used to smell vinegary when they sweated a bit when sleeping. Sniff under her chin when she gets up to see if that's where it's coming from.

Bingewatcingagain · 03/02/2020 15:59

Thanks all.

It seems to be coming from all around the room rather than just her. She does have an ear infection but surely she could kid the make the entire room smelly? Confused I hope not anyway!

She’s still napping but I’ll need to wake her soon so I’ll give her a nappy change incase it’s that.

My worse fear is that something has died under the floorboards or in the walls but surely that would be a different type of smell?

@Wheresthebiffer2 - I’ve done that. I wasn’t going to leave her in a smelly room! Hmm

halcyondays · 03/02/2020 16:00

No that’s a different kind of smell.

LampHat · 03/02/2020 16:39

Oh my ds has an ear infection and made the whole room stink of cheese! Have you smelled her ear?

Grumpbum123 · 03/02/2020 16:39

Teething poo

stepbackfromthecircles · 03/02/2020 16:44

Have you recently painted the room?

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 03/02/2020 16:46

Vinegary poo.

Has she had a leaky nappy that's soaked into mattress/duvet/carpet?

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 03/02/2020 16:48

Milk soaked carpet smells vile as it slowly goes off!

Jellybeansincognito · 03/02/2020 16:57

My first thought was a poo!

picklesdragonisawelshdragon · 03/02/2020 17:07

Sour nappy, mine got when they ate a food they were intolerant to.

Bingewatcingagain · 03/02/2020 18:57

Thanks all!

@LampHat - I think it was her ear!

I noticed it was smelly when she was sat on my lap at playgroup so it must have just gotten worse.

She has got antibiotics so hoping the infection will be gone soon.

LampHat · 03/02/2020 19:49

@Bingewatcingagain Hooray! At least nothing died Wink Hope she feels better soon.

takeyourrubbishhome · 03/02/2020 19:51

My DS always made his room smell horrid when he had tonsillitis. Not just his breath smell, but like something mushy and almost cheesy was seeping out of his pores. We don’t really get that now he’s had them removed.

RockinHippy · 03/02/2020 19:55

Is she walking, self feeding snacks such as fruit etc??

If so, could she be stashing snacks for later & they are rotting in the corners of the room somewhere. Mine did this at this sort of age & we had a vinegar & mould smell. She'd stashed all sorts, including Apple behind the edge of her wardrobe & the back of her bed

RockinHippy · 03/02/2020 19:56

Blushoops.

I hope she's better soon x
