Is it possible to get dual (German and English) citizenship now after Brexit?

I have German citizenship and wondered about applying for German-British dual citizenship. Will Germany still accept that during the ‘transition period’ despite Brexit having happened?

I didn't think Germany allowed dual citizenship. Might be wrong in that though đŸ˜•

I don't think German allows dual citizenship with non-EU nations.

My German friend frantically did his paperwork in January...it had to be submitted by the 31st if January in order for him to have dual nationality.

As others have said Germany doesn't allow dual citizenship with non-EU countries. I'm pretty sure you'd be too late. You can still apply for British citizenship but would have to renounce your German citizenship.

I don't know how it works for a German citizen, only the other way round:

As a Brit living in Germany I have seen official information that Brits who apply by the end of the transition period - 31 December 2020 - can still retain British citizenship. after their German citizenship comes through.

So I recommend you ask the responsible authorities, e.g. German embassy in London
