Talking myself out of tennis

Does anybody else get ridiculously nervous over going to new clubs/groups? I've been wanting to play tennis for years. Had a few (2!) lessons a few years ago so I'm pretty much a complete beginner. I got in touch with my local club and they said to come along to any session on a sunday morning and give it a go... I had the intention of turning up this morning now I'm sat here with a cuppa talking myself out of it 🤦‍♀️

Go!

I'm a player and as long as you can serve and don't poach no one will mind.
The only time people mind complete beginners is for the above or if they get stuck with them The whole morning.
So if you think "oh, I'm going on with the 2 out if the same 3 again" then it can be tactful to decide that actually you need a break if there is someone else.

On my first time back for about 15 years, I completely missed the first serve and whacked my ankle. And then later I fell going fir a ball and managed to skid 2 yards on my front.
They still asked me if I was happy to play for the team.

You do want to go , or you wouldn't be asking here. Come back later and tell us you did it!

I am exactly the same OP. I can talk myself out of almost anything and have to get quite stern with myself sometimes.

You wouldnt have posted here if you didnt want to go, so deep down you must. Dont let that negative voice put you off. Go and have an amazing time.

Well, I got myself all psyched and ready to go, reread the email and it's not on today as there's a tournament on Grin I'm away next weekend but in two weeks time I'm definitely going to go, thanks all for the motivation. Its prompted me to also think about seeking a coaching session in between to make sure my serve's ok!

I used to play and what I used to do was sign up to a terms group coaching block so you'd be playing with and getting to know people of a similar ability.
