If you have 2 under-year-olds and a small car...

...please could you share with me what car you've got and how you manage?

I'm currently thinking we can manage newborn twins in a VW Polo but everyone keeps telling me I'm being unrealistic. Have now got the buggy (Mountain Buggy Duet) and it does fit in the boot! Leaving us three footwells for other stuff. Absolutely fine for day to day life, just got some concerns about day trips etc. Would love to hear how others manage with a similar setup :)

Have you got back doors? If so I can't really see the issue.

Sorry title should say "2 under-2-year-olds"!

Just to note that if your car seats have a support leg, strictly speaking you’re not supposed to have anything with them in the footwell. However, I think the Polo has a fifth seat in the middle?

We had 2u2 in something barely a smidge bigger and a much more impractical full travel system. Worked fine; sometimes just took a bit of fuddling around when packing for big days out.

We have a VW Polo with 2 rear facing car seats, although ours aren't twins so we have a small buggy (babyzen yoyo) so that takes up less space. If we go away, I pack in several soft bags (holdalls, rucksacks etc) as they fit in better. We also have a cool bag that fits between the car seats (once inside the baby bouncer). It is quite well wedged, so I feel it is safe enough im case of an accident. I think you would be fine for day trips. For holidays you might need to be quite strict on packing (or get a roof box!).

We had a Peugeot 206 when our twins were born and we had a MB duet too which just about fit in. It was fine when they were tiny but it got more and more difficult to get the car seats out as they got bigger and the car was 3 door so it was very tricky. We got a VW golf when they were about 4 and it's still small when we go on hols but we just have to sensible with packing.

You do what you have to do. We had to carry 2 babies and the massive pram up and down 5 flights of stairs so the car seemed less of an issue at the time. Shock

We had a Peugeot 307 when I had my twins, and a dog. We quickly changed to a Zafira. We could all fit in the car but couldn't fit anything else in, shopping for example.

A friend had a Yaris, twins and a bugaboo donkey and managed all with notnusing the carrycots, collapsing to single and taking then wheels off every time they went in the car.
