Are work going to think I'm faking it?

I manage a shop but due to staff holidays etc I'm the only one in today. I've just had four days annual leave but I've been really sick tonight, vomited a lot. I've messaged the area manager but I'm worried they'll think I'm lying or drunk. I'm not, my son has been sick all night too and last time I was sick I took a picture of it in case they thought I was lying but I'm worried I'll be in trouble as it'll mean the shop is shut. Has anyone else been in this position before? Will they be mad or try and make me come in? TIA

They may try make you go in if there is no one else but they should have other people they can rely on that would go in should this happen.

I would of taken pictures too. My partner used to do this when ever he was ill in his last job incase they said anything. With little ones constantly picking bugs up you are bound to catch some off them as well x

Stabbitha1 · 01/02/2020 08:23

What would you take pictures of exactly?!

You could be drunk and faking it anytime of the year not just end of annual leave.

I think you need to woman up and turn up. It is the cost of having the shop closed which wont be easily forgiven rather than whether you are faking that will be on their mind.

WutheringFrights · 01/02/2020 08:28

What does the shop sell? If it’s food you absolutely shouldn’t be going in.

Brievandekamp · 01/02/2020 08:43

Not food @WutheringFrights. I've been sick five times- I'm not going in.

Call in sick, it's the Area Manager's job to arrange cover. I'm sure they can get somebody from another branch or may have to do it themselves.

It's bad management to get yourself in this situation though, why are all the other staff off at the same time, annual leave should be spread out not given to all for the same weekend.

Brievandekamp · 01/02/2020 10:55

It wasn't my choice @Pilot12 , area manager approved it not me.

@Stabbitha1 I think you need to woman up and turn up.

Are you serious? Hmm You expect someone who’s got a bug and has been sick 5 times already to just ‘woman up’ whatever that is supposed to mean and go in?!

Stabbitha1 · 01/02/2020 12:25

South my post was before she said sick 5 times. Wind your neck in.

Besidesthepoint · 01/02/2020 13:10

You seriously take pictures of your sick? Where will this end? Taking pics of miscarriages and dead grandfathers? If they don't believe you without such weird proof they can fuck off if you ask me.

Not helpful, I know, but I'm fuming that you feel you need to take pictures. That means that the pressure on you is way off.

CoffeeCoinneseur · 01/02/2020 13:14

It’s piss poor management that leaves a shop this understaffed that it can’t even be opened.

Yes they’ll probably be mad but if you’re too ill you’re too I’ll.

Southmouth · 01/02/2020 16:25

@Stabbitha1 she said she’d been really sick and vomited a lot in her first post. No need to be so rude Hmm
