Parking at Westfield Stratford late at night?

ihearttc · 30/01/2020 20:40

I’m going to a concert at the 02 at the end of Feb. We live in Norfolk and there is engineering works on the trains that weekend so I was going to drive down instead.

My options are parking at the 02 itself (cost is fine it’s just going to take ages to get out afterwards) or I was thinking of parking at Westfield. I know how to get there so it’s slightly easier!

It says you can enter/exit 24 hours but I can’t see how because surely it will be shut when the shops shut? You need to go through where the shops are to pay? Any one have any experience of parking there?

Going to be just me and a 9 year old so don’t want to be wandering around there late at night on my own!!

What sort of time will it be? The centre itself is open long after the shops close - I’ve been to the cinema there before and walked out past all the closed shops at about half midnight. Also, the casino is open 24 hours so there must be at least one route in and out. I’d have thought you’d be ok.

donkey86 · 30/01/2020 20:45

Although that said... just because there’s an exit doesn’t mean there’ll be an entrance, I suppose. Maybe best to ring the concierge desk to check.

Think the concert finishes about 11pm so by the time we’ve got the tube probably about 11.30pm?

I just can’t work out where abouts to get in!!

Logistically parking at the 02 would be easier but my friend did it last year and it took 2 hours to even get out of the car park and I’ve got a 2 hour drive home after that!

It will still be open. The cinema shows films until well past then. I've walked through the shopping centre after 1am before.

georgialondon · 30/01/2020 20:50

But if it worries you could could also look at parking in the Stratford international station car park which is directly next to the Westfield one

UncleHerbie · 30/01/2020 20:53

Parking at Westfield Stratford is 24 hour and I used to use it regularly including overnight. I

Here's a link to smart parking. Register ye car in advance and you'll be charged appropriately on exit. Please note you'll be charged the weekend rate if the 24 hours is Friday/Saturday even if u parked at 2200 on the Friday

Car Park B by The Street is open 24/7. Pedestrian entrance is outside The Real Greek. You can walk around the outside of Westfield past TK Maxx etc to access it, so you won’t even need to go inside.

Ahh brilliant Gin thank you. I know how to get round to that bit...you get off the tube and go up the stairs/escalator.

I'm think we are going to do this on Sunday, so will get back to you and see how we get on

ihearttc · 30/01/2020 21:12

Are you seeing a concert as well Bruffin?

We are going to see The Script...awful seats unfortunately. DH booked them without thinking and we are literally almost on the very back row at the top. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and I’m seriously concerned I’m not going to be able to get up there.

The shopping centre is 'open' in a sense that you can walk through it to the car parks and hotels etc. Bits that don't need to be accessed are closed.

But just to note, parking at the o2 is so much better since the roads have been improved. There is now another road you can enter/exit from. We went there twice before Christmas (Disney on ice and Pete Tong) so one day time and one evening and it took us a maximum of 15 mins to get out.
We've started to book parking there in one of their official car parks though as the station car park is usually very busy.

mollibu · 30/01/2020 21:26

Hi OP!

I live 20 minutes for the o2 and drive every single time! Getting out really isn't as bad as it used to be. Probably 20 minutes max! I'd recommend parking in their car parks and parking as close to the exit as possible.

HTH Smile

ihearttc · 30/01/2020 21:48

Thanks both...that does really help. I’ve got no issues with parking there apart from I thought it would take ages to get out...least we’d be in the car though!

Can you get in the car park (I will precook) during the day? I’d planned to go during the morning...do some shopping and take it to the car then go to the concert. Or can you only access it just before the concert?

Realise I sound a completely country bumpkin...We come to London lots it’s just we normally do it by train as we live right next to the train line!

@ihearttc event parking will be valid from 10am till 10 am the following day but make sure you pre book online!

It's automatic number plate registration too so keep that in mind if you're a 2 car house hold and not sure what car you're taking.

Hope this helps Smile

bruffin · 31/01/2020 06:52

Yes ihearttc
Dont laugh, but it's the Jonas BrosGrin
We live on train routes to Stratford but not many trains at night , so without we might try parking there, it's about half hour drive for us.

We saw The Script a few years back at The Roundhouse and the were really

bruffin · 31/01/2020 06:53

Pressed too early and missed out good

ihearttc · 31/01/2020 21:40

Ohh I’d love to see them!!

I’ve seen The Script several times (Danny is my guilty pleasure!) but never at the 02!

We parked at Stratford international, car park was 6.60 and booked in advance
Went to Canning town on DLR then swapped to Jubilee Line to O2. Really easy.

K0B · 29/06/2025 00:38

I would advise not to park in the Westfield car park as it took us 3 hours to get out, the surrounding road system is not up to the popularity of the area, avoid wherever possible.
