Clothing for large 9yo girl

AnythingNotEverything · 29/01/2020 20:04

I need to buy some tops for a tall, broad 9yo girl. Currently outgrowing age 12 at Next.

Where is good for this? None of my own children are at this stage so I don't know where to start.

Thanks :-)

Next does bigger sizes online, up to age 16 I think

H&M does a size 14+ which my 12 year old outgrows currently, they cater for height up to 1.70m. 12-14 may also be worth looking at and they do some items in 13-14.

New Look size 8 may work but you need to be careful if it is age appropriate.

M&S does online up to size 15-16.

Debenhams does 12-13 in store and online but I find some items come up a bit small.

Are M&S as generous in their preteen sizes as their other childrenswear? That would be good as they're good with returns.

I would say yes. You could try a 13-14.

H&M are good and they have a few baggier styles. They do a "generous fit" online but that might be too big.
New Look have a 9-15 section but some stuff could be a bit old for a 9 year old.
M&S go up to 14-15 I think.
My DD is just about 10 and she's 150cm with long limbs! I have been finding options reduced a bit as lots of kids sections stop at 12.

H&M have some generous fit styles, my DS wore these when really quite chubby. Next and M&S have a few, but i found H&M to be more stylish and better value.

My 9 year old DD is currently quite chubby, but still short, at the moment usually just sizes up in standard fit things, but has generous fit school dresses, (regular fit were too tight on her arms and shoulders)

Boden are fairly generous and go up to 16. But they don't cater for fat well until you get to women's. If she's outgrowing a 12 she's not far off a women's small.

M&S are great for this dd1s "bff" wears a 12-13 in there and a lot of H&M. Dd1 is the opposite she's 9 and can wear some of dd2s clothes. Dd2 on on the other hand is racing up the sizes at a rate of knots

Found Debenhams very good for age appropriate clothes. DD very tall but they did sensible clothes up to a generous age 14.
