Good evening, last week I thought I was having a asthma flare up as my chest was very tight, had a cough and wheezing, this calmed down on Saturday.
Yesterday I started coming down with a hacking cough and the chills and since this morning, I have been sick every time I cough due to fact I can't stop coughing and it's violent, I am gonna ring 111 in a little bit, but I'm worried due to underlying conditions they are gonna send me to a and e! Anyone have any words of wisdom?

Ring your GP and ask if they have other options eg. Booking you an evening appointment at another practice.

If they send you to A&E then you should go to A&E.

Do you have known asthma? Do you have an inhaler?

I don't have asthma but did end up very ill with wheezing viral bronchitis/bronchospasm a couple of years ago. My GP saw me on an emergency appointment, called an ambulance and once at the hospital I was stabilised in resus. If you are struggling to breathe, take it seriously.

@LarkDescending yes I have asthma and a inhaler, I'm not struggling to breathe just a little breathless every now and again- gonna ring 111 now

Why didn’t you call your GP today? It would be a same day appointment, and most surgeries are open until six thirty.

Call them now and try and get seen.

I had the exact same thing recently and rang 111. I got an out of hours gp appt and was prescribed antibiotics. Ring 111, if you need to go to a and e then basically you should!

Im waiting for a nurse from 111 to ring me back atm

Saw out of hours, got pneumonia! On antibiotics and if it doesn't get better will require a hospital stay!

Good grief! Thank goodness you did ring. Hope you're feeling better soon.
