Are grey hallways dull - literally - and also boring?

My hallway needs a freshen up; I currently have cream walls with a fairly bright bold turquoise and green patterned paper on a feature wall, and an old golden/beige carpet.

The carpet definitely needs replacing and we are decorating at the same time.

I’ve seen a grey carpet I like, and fancy a very pale duck egg patterned paper for the feature wall (image attached).

B and q recommend either a grey paint called Melville or a duck egg called Artane.

Thoughts please?

Or would lemon and grey be better?

The first one looks quite wintry to me. I really like it, but I don’t think I’d want to live with it.

I prefer the warmth and colour of the second one, but it really depends on your house and other decorative elements.

I have brightly patterned tiles in hallway with grey carpet on stairs and very pale grey paint on walls. The patterned floor lifts everything and stops it looking drab. All grey looks drab and soulless IMO.

I normally hate grey but I love the first wallpaper and think it would look great with a duck egg carpet and grey walls or a maybe duck egg walls and a grey carpet would be a brighter (and a grey carpet would be more sensible in a hallway probably)
I don't think duck egg on both the walls and the floor would work
