Small gift idea for 8 month old baby

My DH's cousin is coming to stay with my in laws in Feb for a few nights with her baby girl of 8 months. She's been through a bit of a rough time recently with bereavements. I wanted to buy her baby a gift or toy while she's here but they are flying home and I presume she will only have hand luggage in the plane. I'm out of the baby stage now but wondered if anyone had any ideas of gifts for the baby that she'll be able to take home with them in hand luggage.
We've already bought a big baby gift which we posted down when the baby was born. This is really just as a little extra gift while they are up visiting our family. Thanks

Maybe a nice book? DD is 7 months and we read a book every night before bed, it’s a lovely thing to do together. I’d choose a board book though as it’s much more durable.

Oh that's a nice idea @YakkityYakYakYak thanks. I'm sure I'll be able to remember some good books from my DS's baby years.

Yummikeys! She's the perfect age for them and they are just the Size of keys so would fit in the change bag

@Lazydaisydaydream I've never seen them before. I can see why a baby would like them. Thanks

I have an 8 month old who loves usborne playbooks,. Or a nice little outfit never goes amiss. Hats or cardigans always get plenty of use too. Or what about something personalised - we've been bought a door plate for baby's room or a picture with his initial and name and date of birth (try not on the high street). Bath toys are great too - you can get bath books that change colour in the water or a soft foam bath mirror.
