Anyone have any advice on how to manage hip pain

Posting here for traffic. Had on/off hip pain for a while now, slowly getting worse and more regular. Particularly bad if I sit for a long time.

This afternoon, I was bringing in the food shopping when I was hit with the worst pain I've ever felt. All across my hip, around the top of my thigh into my groin and about a third of the way across my lower back.

Painkillers and a hot water bottle have made it so I've stopped feeling sick from the pain but I'm still in agony and extremely uncomfortable. Usually if I semi-recline the pain decreases significantly, tonight nothing is helping.

I'm planning to see my GP Monday but I've got a uni assignment to get finished tomorrow so need to find a way to relieve the pain. Any ideas?

Wouldn't usually post asking this, but feeling a little desperate.

It really depends on what is causing it to be honest because you could make it worse.

I have burstitis in my hip so I put an ice pack on it and also do some yoga stretches (obvs not an option for you though) but if heat is working then go with that and get medical attention.

Maybe lying on your side with a pillow between knees? (worked for my painful hips in pregnancy).

I use heat patches that your stick to your skin (mine say they're for the lower back but it works for me). Alternate ibuprofen and co-codamol and adding pressure to the hip works for me too.

Physio exercises help massively as a preventative, but are torture when the pain flares.

Best of luck. A bad hip is horrible Flowers
