Best and worst of one artist/band

This is inspired by another thread, but I didn't want to derail that, so thought I'd start my own.

Do you ever hear something that is so incredibly terrible (to your ears, music being subjective and all that) and then discover it's by an artist who also have a track, or tracks that you love? Or vice versa?

The one that springs to mind for me (and I'm repeating myself from the other thread) is Guns'n'Roses, November Rain. I just think it rubbish, yet Welcome to the Jungle is amazing. And it's not like there was 15 years between them and they had changed direction hugely in the meantime, they're only a couple of years apart.

On a different note, I hate Robbie Williams music with a passion, yet I quite like Kids, with Kylie. I couldn't belive it when I first heard it and found out it was him she was singing with (his voice being so dull that I didn't even realise just by listening to it).

Any others spring to mind?

I was going to offer 'Ice Cream For Crow' by Captain Beefheart as it is utterly awful. Then I realised it's the only Beefheart song I know. I hope his other works are higher quality.

Rock n Roll Is King. I should have been appalled when I found out it was ELO but I was only mildly disappointed. Jeff Lynne was beginning to stretch his formula too far.

Another Robbie Williams non-fan - however I do like one track, Rock DJ. Only decent thing he did.

Trying to think of one that's the other way round - will come back if I do.

Thought of one! AC/DC - my opinion of most of their stuff ranges from 'really really like' to 'it's OK' except for one track I can't stand, which is 'Whole Lotta Rosie'. I just get a horrible picture of a really leery man slobbering over the unfortunate Rosie even though she 'ain't pretty'. Envy.

I really like The Divine Comedy, except for all their famous ones. National Express, Something for the Weekend, Frog Princess,Generation Sex etc - all awful. Yet their albums are otherwise full of absolutely stunning tracks, Promenade in particular.

Can't abide Take That, think they are over rated and bland but think Rule The World is such a lovely song.

The Beatles! Absolute bangers like helter skelter, come together, help, let it be etc, then octopus's garden.

Yes, too true Hola. When the Beatles got it wrong, they got it really wrong.
