If you have three kids, what car do you drive?

Basically I'm after a reasonably priced car that could fit a booster seat and two car seats in the back. I'm not too bothered about isofix bases as long as they strap in.

Any recommendations will be gratefully received and considered!

Ford S Max, it fits three car seats across and has two pop up seats in the boot.

PullingMySocksUp · 25/01/2020 07:12

VW touran. Can’t fault it.

GrayTT · 25/01/2020 07:15

My friend has a Peugeot 5008. Much cheaper than Smax and can easily fit 3 seats in the middle row and has 2 fold down seats in the boot. It’s really spacious too.

We had a VW Touran too...couldn't fault it. But then we got a large dog and that wasn't enough anymore once you factored in bikes and scooters etc so we upgradedto a (second hand) mercedes v class. I love it but it's huge!

Cupcakegirl13 · 25/01/2020 07:24

S Max

Jimdandy · 25/01/2020 07:24

Ford Galxy

itsboiledeggsagain · 25/01/2020 07:24

I would buy a Peugeot 5008 if I didn't need a hefty towcar. I think they are fab.

I have a kia sorento

FraterculaArctica · 25/01/2020 07:28

Citroen C4 grand picasso. We love it.

MrsJonesAndMe · 25/01/2020 07:28

Galaxy fits 2 full seats and a high back booster next to each other.

BetterAlone · 25/01/2020 07:29

Skoda Superb. Boot is huge too.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 25/01/2020 07:30

A Skoda Octavia. One of my kids is now nearly 6 foot, so he can't sit in the middle any more! Only ever had two car seats in it, as age gap between 2 and 3 is quite big.

Alwayswaiting · 25/01/2020 07:31

I’ve got a Toyota verso 3 seats across the back with no problem, cheap on petrol and reliable

shamelessfamilyoverroad · 25/01/2020 07:32

Kia Sorento here too.

Icanflyhigh · 25/01/2020 07:38

I'm another with a VW Touran - had 2 now for over 10 years.
Brilliant cars, economical, spacious, additional 2 seats when needed. A boot you could put an orchestra in etc...
And the reliability of it being Volkswagen.

CountFosco · 25/01/2020 07:38

S Max. We are a short family so this gives all 3 rows plenty of foot space, a taller family will need a Galaxy if using the third row regularly. The Fords were the only 7 seater cars we looked at with enough width for the DC in HBB to be able to easily do their own seatbelts up. We had 2 HBB and a carseat in the back initially. I'd try the different cars you are interested in with your current carseat combination and see how easily they fit, I was surprised how tight it was in some cars. You need width. Or get a Multimac carseat which are awesome.

m0therofdragons · 25/01/2020 07:40

We started with a vw touran which was functional and great but then moved to an smax for a larger boot and comfy seats.

autumnboys · 25/01/2020 07:42

I have two teens and 10yo. We had an SMax when they were all in car seats. When we had to change it at short notice, we ended up with a Galaxy, which is fine, but I preferred the SMax.

WLmum · 25/01/2020 07:46

Seat Alhambra. We are a tall family and didn't like the small back seats in the s max.
Alhambra is exactly the same car as the vw sharan but without the vw mark up.
My one thing I'd like to point out is when getting a car that fits 3 car seats in one row, please make sure there's enough room to get your hand between them and access the buckles - if there was an accident and you needed to get them out quickly, could you?

Bythebeach · 25/01/2020 07:46

Also VW touran for the last 8 years 😂
We fit in 3 kids and a dog no trouble but only one booster needed nowadays. It was snug but fine with 3 in appropriate car seats in a row when had baby, 4 and 7 year old.
Big boot for dog/ instruments/extra passengers. Love it.

Andersonx3 · 25/01/2020 07:47

I only have 1 child but we have an Audi A4 which would struggle to fit more than 2, and a Nissan Pathfinder which has 7 seats and is very spacious! Would highly recommend. 2 fold down seats in boot which is huge.

Heismyopendoor · 25/01/2020 07:47

We have a Renault scenic 7 seater. In our middle row we currently have two big high back boosters and a regular booster. We previously had them in two car seats and a booster and it worked well too.

Originalusernameunavailable · 25/01/2020 07:49

Kia Sorento

fairgroundsnack · 25/01/2020 08:00

S Max here too!

cheeseismydownfall · 25/01/2020 08:13

Seat Alhambra. Ginormous boot with two extra decent sized seats. We chose the Seat over other similar options for the sliding doors (which are a godsend with young children when parking in tight spaces). As a PP says it is the same car as the VW Sheran but better value.

horrayforharoldlloyd · 25/01/2020 08:17

Volvo xc90
