What would I like for my birthday?

I'm being very indecisive about what I'd like for my birthday this year. I know this is a very first world problem and don't worry I will donate to charity too!

I considered an iPad but it's more than I really want DH to spend. I considered a mulberry purse (I lost mine) but replacing something seems a rubbish present. I unashamedly like nice things which is reflected in my list of favourite presents: longtemps fold up bag; le cresuet (sp? 🤦🏼‍♀️) espresso mugs; fancy glassware etc....

Please give me some ideas as my DH is useless at surprises!

My birthday next month. I've asked for a new pair of walking boots.

EssentialHummus · 23/01/2020 19:05

My DH has just made my week with a device that plugs into the cigarette thing in your car, tunes into a radio frequency and allows you to play music from your phone in the car (?). Sounds like witchcraft but I am one excited lady.

Have you any idea of the budget for the present? Sounds like you enjoy fancy things. Are any particular categories in or out to give us more to go on? For example, you might like outdoorsy things and gadgets, not beauty products or experience type gifts.

@MrsJoshNavidi it's my birthday next week. I'm useless!! I tend to wear old running trainers when walking but I want to go up Snowdon this year so not a bad shout!

@EssentialHummus they're good aren't they? I have an aux port in my car though. Although truthfully I couldn't make it work the other day and just listened to music through my phone speaker! Happy listening!

@seeingasyouareclueless budget is £200 ish but could be much less or more. I tend to buy things for myself that cost £80 or less so I'd like to buy something I wouldn't buy for myself. I'm into most things in moderation, but I really want something I can use for five years or so.

Apple Watch

mumtumdocare · 23/01/2020 20:06

New boots, trainers, decent mac type coat. New sunglasses for those spring mornings?

seeingasyouareclueless · 23/01/2020 20:12

Mulberry do a gorgeous cosmetics pouch, I've seen it on the John Lewis website, you mentioned Mulberry as a brand you like. Do you like Barbour? Perhaps one of their warm coats for your Snowdon hike. Jewellery? AirPods? As you mentioned Le Creuset im assuming you like cooking, how about a decent stand mixer or slow / pressure cooker.

Pompei36 · 23/01/2020 20:14

Dyson Airwrap for me this year 😂

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/01/2020 20:15

Just ordered myself a new leather jacket for my birthday. I'm hoping dp will get me some Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume, as I've dropped lots of hints!

Other things which would make me a very happy Remus are:
yet another pair of boots
a spa day
a Vivienne Westwood dress (sale)
books, books and more books
some more Denby stuff
a lovely new big pasta pan

alliejay81 · 23/01/2020 20:17

Ooh these are all amazing ideas. Just finishing bedtime and I'll read them properly Smile

My birthday was technically January 2nd. My husband decided some years ago that we would celebrate the whole month for our birthdays. We use the phrase "It's my birthday." Whenever there's something we want that month also e have to accept whatever gifts or surprises we are offered by the other.
I love this since I never have to worry about what I want and the whole month is full of different surprises. It's also great cause we are not rich and our gifts and wants are more sentimental, caring and loving.

alliejay81 · 23/01/2020 21:23

Sunglasses are a good idea - I've been wanting a really nice pair (rather than ones from TK Maxx for years) - just seems weird in January!

The mulberry cosmetic pouch is beautiful but I would trash it Confused.

AirPods sound good but not sure if I'm too lazy to charge them!

You can't go wrong with earrings. You can never have too many earrings.

TwoHeadedYellowBelliedHoleDig · 24/01/2020 19:24

A Garmin fitbit-type watch.
Something from Quail Ceramics. The large Zebra jug looks gloriously impractical.

Futureplanning · 24/01/2020 19:29

For my recent birthday I got and loved:
Ugg slippers
Tiny diamond earrings
Ralph Lauren mac
Kate spade purse
Leather handbag
Cashmere scarf

MrsPerfect12 · 24/01/2020 19:48

What about a nice necklace or bracelet?
I'd go for the mulberry purse myself.

NoNeedToArgue · 24/01/2020 20:01

I've just got a KitchenAid mixer for my Significant Birthday. Velvet blue. The most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

Impatientwino · 24/01/2020 20:06

North face tri climate jacket. It's a fleece and a waterproof that zip together or you can wear separately. It's the most amazing warm coat and so so handy. I love mine, They do them in ladies, mens and youth so subsequently bought one for DS and now one for DH.
