Interesting board games.

Has any one got any suggestions for some board games that arent particularly mainstream.
I'm looking for some new ideas away from the old classics. Ideally for 14 years old and older and 2-6 players.

Pass the Pigs is easy going good fun 🐖🐖

Frenchfancy · 23/01/2020 17:06

Some good ideas here. I'll add 7 wonders (my favourite) Splendour and Wonderful World (a new game just out but rapidly becoming our favourite.)

Take a look at board game geek if you want more ideas.

Robo Rally

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes on Steam (one person needs a laptop, and the others printed manuals)

Agree with catan, ticket to ride and pandemic.

Also we really love dominion. Especially for 2 players.

Its fast and clever and there are a huge number of expansions if you get bored.

scissy · 23/01/2020 17:49

How regularly are you going to be playing with 6 players? A lot of the game suggestions above are max 5 (sometimes 4) players.
We have some games that work well for 6. Going in order of duration.
Short:
One night Ultimate Werewolf (There's also alien/vampire expansions) we use this as a filler for board game evenings as people arrive as each self- contained round takes approx 5-7 min.

Medium:
Secret Hitler
Code words

Long:
Power Grid
7 Wonders

We love Scotland Yard.

WhereDidTheYearsGo · 23/01/2020 18:06

I agree with Ticket to Ride. Also Camel Up. Break the Safe. Jurassic Park. Lyric.

InMySpareTime · 23/01/2020 18:26

Discworld board game is good, if a bit nerdy. Players all have different criteria to win, so there's a bit of a mind game element to winning.

Fredy45 · 23/01/2020 18:27

Like everyone else pandemic, ticket to ride and catan.

Also camel up and forbidden island.

We also like betrayal on haunted hill and small world

redexpat · 23/01/2020 18:29

Splendor!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 23/01/2020 18:32

Not exactly a board game but Mapominoes. We have a few different versions.

notacooldad · 23/01/2020 21:19

There's some fantastic ideas here.
I'm going to have fun looking up these games!
Thank you everyone!

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

I like mapominoes too but only if there's no judgement for being surprised which countries are next to each other....
