BBC axing The Victoria Derbyshire Show

I’ve just read online that the Beeb are axing this programme. I don’t watch it very often but, when I have, it’s seemed very informative and covers various issues. I don’t understand the logic in getting rid of it.

That's a real shame, it's an excellent programme with generally unbiased opinions and very informative. Did they say why?

Patroclus · 22/01/2020 21:26

To be replaced with the Kuensberg Happy Great Leader Good Smiles Times program Id imagine.

Skybluepink123 · 22/01/2020 21:36

I think they’ve said it’s because the programme is too expensive! It seems such a shame that they can get rid of this but have things like Homes Under The Hammer on repeat!

Oh no! She was great at bringing to the publics attention at what’s been happening in the secretive family courts
Mums losing their kids, like my dil did and given To an abusive parent.

I’m gutted over this

Skybluepink123 · 22/01/2020 22:06

I agree Dowser, she was good at raising really important issues. As I said, I’ve not been a regular viewer due to personal circumstances but, when I did watch, I was really impressed.

She had some of the Grenfell residents on there just after the fire

I still remember the look on her face when Alok Sharma told them to e mail him while he was sat right there in person.

This axing is a crap decision.

Iflyaway · 22/01/2020 23:14

Oh no!

What a disgrace. It's a brilliant programme.

Langsdestiny · 22/01/2020 23:19

Thank goodness. It's been utterly biased in terms of the gender critical debate. Watching her talking to the man who had detransitioned was infuriating. How could she listen to what he was saying and not show any empathy.

Absolutely devastated at the plan to end our programme (which I first learned about in yesterday’s Times). I’m unbelievably proud of what our team and our show have achieved in under 5 years.. 1/3

...breaking tonnes of original stories (which we were asked to do); attracting a working class, young, diverse audience that BBC radio & TV news progs just don’t reach (which we were asked to do); & smashing the digital figures (which we were asked to do) ... 2/3

I’m gutted particularly for our brilliant, young, ambitious, talented team - love ‘em. And for all those people we gave a voice to. Love them too. 3/3
