Are some jobs more valuable that others?

Just curious as to people's views as to the value of some roles over others.

Are those in the military more valued than firemen? Nurses? Doctors? Police?

Why?

Police have a similar transport discounted scheme.

They are valued more then tabloid journalists for obvious reasons.

the police do not have a similar scheme, only within force areas at the discretion of the company, in liverpool bus fare is free with the area and one train company.

the reason the police get the concession is that if anything happens they have a duty to put themselves on duty to resolve it. Weather having free travel or not.

personally with the terror threat the level it is now i would be happy for all police to get free travel and all armed forces.
