We had a non religious wedding and the readings were a mix of beautiful poems, extracts from The Alchemist and Bob Marley lyrics! Wedding was on the beach so quite informal

My DS read a poem by Pam Ayres - the wedding poem.

I had both my totally unsentimental brothers read something & loved both. Still do a decade later. A marriage by Michael Blumenthal, which is as close as we could come to describing why we were getting married after 11years together. Also an abridged version of the gift of the magi by o Henry.

Maya Angelou is a wonderful person to look up for a reading. We had a non religious ceremony (eloped) and had a reading of hers.

I read something from this book at a friend's wedding, but can't remember what!! lots of great poems here though.

We had Shakespeare’s Sonnet 116 (cliched but I still love it), an excerpt from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran and a poem called The Garden, can’t remember the poet.

SIL's wedding had reading from Winnie the Pooh and some lyrics from Sally's Song in Nightmare Before Christmas. She's a big Disney fan

Mothership4two · 20/01/2020 01:52

'On Marriage' (from The Prophet) by Kahlill Gibran

HoldMyLobster · 20/01/2020 01:59

Um... yes... I can't remember what they were.

Hermie12 · 20/01/2020 02:00

We used ‘Love is friendship caught fire’ Laura Hendricks

I had 2, a love poem- it's in the loft! And I took a dr who quote and made a reading from it about our journey. (DH is a huge fan)

We had "recipe for a happy marriage" (which looking back, was a bit cheesy, but we liked it!)

My brother had "A Lovely Love Story" by Edward Monkton which was lovely 😊
