Birthday this week how can I make me feel special?

January (or any months close to December) is a crap month to have a birthday but I’m stuck with it.
It’s my birthday this week.
I have partner but have 2 adult DS.
I remember my birthday parties cancelled due to snow (when it actually did snow ❄️!) but I mostly remember my ExH standing up at my 21st birthday in front of our guests announcing I was ‘the worst shag he’d ever had’ - it wasn’t in jest.
My divorce came through on my birthday last year.
I would like to do something for myself to feel special this week to eradicate the past 30 years of mainly blurgh birthdays.
I’m working on the day but short hours.

Hard to say without knowing your interests. What gets you going? I’d love a long walk over the hills, back home to do a jigsaw. But you might find that really boring.

We need more info. What you can do with your family? Or alone? Evening? Daytime? Will you be at work? Weekend? What do you like? Budget?

I'd go for an early supper then cinema

It’s just something on the day.
I’ve never had a birthday cake
I’m thinking of a blow out meal for myself.
I started with a face mask last night but woke up itching like hell & blotchy this morning 😂🤣
I’ll be on my own most of the day

If you like massages I'd book a full body massage in the afternoon. Can often get them discounted on Groupon.
Then home to your favourite tea, even if that is beans on toast, and a birthday cake you picked.
Happy Birthday 🎂

Can you do a spa day and dinner with friends? I would love that. Or an afternoon tea? x

Depending on your work hours I’d:

  • go out for a leisurely brunch
  • book a massage and a facial, independent places are cheaper than spas!
  • have a meal with partner and adult kids, if you all get along. If not, I’d probably order in my favourite takeaway and pick a good film
  • or go to a comedy night or some live music – it’s good for the soul

And definitely get yourself a cake, maybe just a fancy cupcake in your favourite flavour. Stick a candle in it and make a wish! Enjoy yourself Smile

I had my birthday last week, so I get the whole January birthday thing. I dropped DD off at school then me and DH went for breakfast at a posh restaurant (but much cheaper than an evening meal as no booze involved!), then as we'd spent all our dosh, a nice wander round a free art gallery looking at masterpieces. Picked DD up from school and had tea and cake at home.

Hope you have a nice day OP Flowers
