Have you been to Latvia?

I'm thinking of taking a trip there with 3 teenagers. Riga looks like it has lots of offer and would be walkable.

Where else is good? Is public transport ok, or better to hire a car? What is the food like?

I know very little about it - the plan happened because the DC were thinking of somewhere we haven't been before (lots of choice, actually, we haven't been to many places).

I'd be interested to hear your experiences.

I went to riga. It’s nice but not loads there. We had 2 days and was enough. But we did a coach trip from riga to Vilnius, 5 days total and enjoyed it. But I wouldn’t go just to riga

Yes, years ago. It was very pretty. We drove from Vilnius in Lithuania to Riga in Latvia, I remember a lot of forests and beautifully decaying architecture.

I went with dm when I was around 19 and stayed with friends of hers. Their similar age teenagers took me on a rather booze filled night clubbing in Riga, including a dance floor filled with podiums that would shoot you up in the air with little warning to the sound of some heavy on the synth euro pop. Not sure I'd like to repeat it these days, but definitely a good experience at the time.

I went to Estonia some years later, which I thought had a bit more on offer in terms of things to see, had you considered going there? Tallinn is also close enough to Helsinki to pop over for a day trip.
