Sweet smelling oily stuff - is it vaping oil? Help with mystery!

Emptying DS’s blazer to go in the wash, found a little bottle of sweet smelling orangey/pink liquid. Looks viscous. V small bottle (25ml?), no labels or marking. I’d like to get an idea of what it might be before asking him.

Could it be vaping oil? Googling doesn’t help. Alternative idea would be some sort of flavour for foods.

He is 15 and v sporty, so I would be surprised and worried if it were vaping. Any ideas anyone please?

Picture of bottle would possibly help.

CatFaceCats · 18/01/2020 22:03

Possibly - but just to be pedantic, it’s never vape oil, there’s no oil in it!
Do you have a pic? Also, drop some onto the back of your hand, does it smell? If it’s eliquid, you’ll easy smell as most are very definite flavours!

VioletCharlotte · 18/01/2020 22:08

This sounds like vape juice. Can you post a photo of it?

Vape fluid usually comes in a bottle with a needle tip so you can get it into the vape pen. If its CBD oil then yes it does include oil.
The flavours are usually very obvious sweet shop flavours.

If it were beard oil I'd expect it to have a label.

What kind of bottle is it? Glass or plastic, does it have a a dropper or insert?

HelloYouTwo · 18/01/2020 22:09

Thanks for the vocab, I’m clueless on this. Helps to know the language so he can’t deny its “vape oil” if I mean eliquid or vape juice!

It is very scented and when I squeezed some out it sat as a very neat blob, not runny at all.

I assume from the bottle that it’s been given to him rather than bought as it has no label at all. It’s a plastic bottle you can squeeze slightly with a thin tip so you get a drop or I suppose if you squeezed hard it would be a small jet.

it looks too big to be a vape juice to me.

NaomifromMilshake · 18/01/2020 22:12

Be a shame if it went in a hot wash and "then" you found it. Hmm

Thelnebriati · 18/01/2020 22:14

That could be perfume oil, food flavouring or vape liquid. The photo shows a needle tip.

I would just ask him in a non judgmental way. Even if it vape juice, it's really not too terrible. Loads of teens go though a phase of vaping.

HelloYouTwo · 18/01/2020 22:17

It’s about 8cm high. Another pic.

He’s a bit spikey at the moment and I just want to have an idea of what it is so I can think about how to approach it. I would be very unhappy if he was vaping, I know teens try stuff and better that than smoking but it’s totally unnecessary for a 15yo to start vaping.

If it is vape juice it has oxidised and is near its sell by date, it should be clear.

SacharissaCrisplock · 18/01/2020 22:23

Does he play a musical instrument? It almost looks like a bottle of oil I use on my clarinet

GoldLeafTree · 18/01/2020 22:34

Looks like it definitely could be vape liquid

HelloYouTwo · 18/01/2020 22:53

Ok so if for vaping it should be clear?

Definitely not valve oil!!

Kleptronic · 18/01/2020 23:03

I vape and different brands/flavours of ejuice have different colours, it's not definite that it's oxidised at all.

I'll dig one of my bottles out and post a pic.

Isnappedandsharted · 18/01/2020 23:05

Could it be CBD oil?

Ffsnosexallowed · 18/01/2020 23:06

Looks like e liquid to me.

winterbluues · 18/01/2020 23:09

DPs mum has one that looks almost exactly the same. It's a type of vape liquid that you basically mix together yourself to create a flavour that you want, hence why the bottle is so big and it's a slightly funny consistency. Also explains the lack of labelling as it's something he will have mixed himself.

JasonPollack · 18/01/2020 23:12

Yeah I was about to suggest instrument related, or surf/skating maybe?

Cbd oil is darker and usually comes in a brown glass bottle. It's not drugs of any kind I've ever seen (and I've seen most of them)

Kleptronic · 18/01/2020 23:12

Here are 3 flavours, all in 10ml bottles. With a handy measure next to them. Note the middle one is a darker colour. They're all new, just different flavours.

I think yours is probably CBD ejuice and that's why the label has been removed.

CBD doesn't get you high. The jury's out on the benefits, but high isn't one of them. So to speak.

Thelnebriati · 18/01/2020 23:20

I have a neurological disorder and vape CBD juice. It doesn't get you high, it does relax your muscles. I'd be surprised if someone who was sporty was using it.

safariboot · 18/01/2020 23:26

Probably vape juice. In which case he's presumably got a vape stashed somewhere; do you feel able to search through his stuff?

If you get any on your hands wash them, vape juice is poisonous if it's left on your skin for a while.

If he's vaping I kind of think there'd be clues. The stuff's addictive. Has he been hiding himself away or been out more than usual?

Another thing that comes to mind is poppers, but they usually wouldn't have the narrow tip on the bottle.
